Hey guys,
So lately i noticed the air from my A/C isn't cold anymore. Took it to a place today to get checked out and they said it needs a Regas. Also needs to replace the hose that runs to the receiver drier or something. They want $560 which seems a bit much to me?
depends on what hoses bcoz most the aircon hoses are behind the dash which can be a hassel...
other than that the price seems pretty good..

hmm k its just one hose and it runs from the receiver drier (near the radiator in engine bay) to the compressor i think. Its easy to get at.
It sounds a little rich to me, take away the re-gas and it's well over $400 for the hose plus fitting. I'd be getting a second opinion.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
A re-gas on it's own should be like $70.00. I'd be pricing the hose first. Get an auto elec to collect your gas if there's any left, change the hose yourself then take it in for a re-gas. I'd also probably think about a new receiver dryer as they are not that expensive and usually replaced when an aircon is serviced.
I changed my AC compressor the other week. The compressor bearing was stuffed. The system was still full of gas when I undid it,and I let the gas leak out to the atmosphere, which I didnt like doing.I told the guy doing the AC regas about how I let the old gas out to the atmosphere, and he said " thats all we do when we undo any of the AC fittings",I couldnt believe it.I felt bad about doing it once. These guys sound like they do it daily.I thought they had to collect the old gas from the evacuated AC systems by law.

I would get a few quotes and see if there is any major difference in the price. Unfortunatley AC problems can be expensive to fix, but that sound a little too expensive for what you've said ?.

As said price up the hose urself and mayb buy it seperate, same with the drier, he could b quoting u more 4 the labour costs as if he does replace the receiver drier he may take ur front bar off 2 make things a lil easier but would take longer 2 do.

i did one a few weeks back, charged $430 w/o receiver drier.
I replaced the hose from the compressor to the firewall ,in all honesty its not a hard job(LS1) ,however it is radiator out recovery bottle off ,airbox out and a bit of fart arseing around ,think the hose cost me over $200 to buy !
honestly to supply fit and charge the ac for that price is reasonable in my opinion !
i got quoted $130 for a service turned out my system was good and only got charged $60 for a top up
