    Pacemaker cat back.
Best exhaust I've heared. Near silent at idle and cruising and nice and beefy, with a decent volume when you stand on it. Thats without a rear resonator.

Mmm, I'll guarantee you inside the car is a different story. And video's are the worst way to determine the volume of something.
I had a redback exhaust system on an old 202 and it was loud all the time. 3.8 or 5ltr will be much louder.

Thats not to say pacemaker are the only choice. I've used their stuff and loved it, If you're just going a single pipe look at getting a custom system made and by a good muffler for it yourself. Then just go it and say "I want 2.5" pipe all the way through using this muffler".

If you do it like that, the world is your oyster Lots and lots off good mufflers around.

    These are epic:
    MUFFLER 3.00" S/STEEL CENTER IN/OUT EDELBROCK 55751 (eBay item 370362555642 end time 05-Nov-10 13:12:41 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

I've head good things about these too:
3" STAINLESS MAGNAFLOW MUFFLER 8"x5" OVAL 16" LONG (eBay item 160495077909 end time 17-Nov-10 11:32:35 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

Straight after the OP posted an exhaust system, you said your mate has one, and had it custom made.
Who gives a toss if your mate has a custom exhaust doesn't really give anyone any information does it.

Stock L67 exhaust would fit the bill.I only suggest this as you said "something".

Twin cats into twin 2" exhaust back into single 2 1/4" over diff with a SS tip all standard.

Might be a bit quiet for him though?
The big mufflers in them being the cause. Just my thought anyway. Not to say it would work perfectly from a performance aspect.

Whichever way the OP go's I strongly reccomend keeping the rear resonator/muffler.

Yeah, most likely a touch quite for him but the perf will be their as you stated and guranteed to be not looked at as a tryhard. So easy to get wrong the 3.8's in this area.

Hop on Youtube and view the ones with only"good" audio to get a close to 100% decision before purchasing, just a thought.

Would it increase the noise if I were to put a high flow cat or sportshotdog?
