Default Need a few tips on painting a VX Calais boot garnish

    Hey guys
I havent been a total noob and just asked this question straight away, i searched a fair few threads and couldnt really find anything about painting the VX Calais garnish, only on painting the vt lights or the vx garnish

I got a 98 VT Exec and heres what i have

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Do i have to take the lights off to paint it, or do i just use newspaper or whatever?

And itll be my first time painting, ive looked around the forums and does this sound like the right process -
Wet sand the paint down, lay down a couple coats of plastic primer, wet sand again until its smooth, then spray the garnish to the colour of my car
I know those steps arent in that much detail, but thats pretty much the jist of it all yeh?

If it doesnt work out or the paint job looks shitty, i guess i can always take it into a professional, but i wanna try do everything myself on this car, itll make me feel that much cooler (y) haha
So yeah, those are my questions
    THANKS GUYS

if you arent a painter yourself and you havent ever done it before, i would just send it to a painter and he'd prob do it for 50 or so dollars, a lot easier in the end with a good job

$100? Eeek thats a bit pricy, theres hardly anything to paint, only the bottom lip of the garnish since the middle part will be covered by my big ass license plate lol

If you are supplying the paint, anything over 50 is a rip off, theres minimal prep work and it wont take up any room in the shop.
