Question Question????? - calais roof wiring harness

hi i did post in the electrical wiring/ question thread but no help.

I installed a calais roof wiring harness along with the rear country lights and calais doom interior light. My question is why has the black/blue wire from my old (s pac loom) been replaced with a (purple wire???) what does it do? as it stops at the plug next to the drivers seat where the loom plugs into. Ive just installed the vy sunglass holder (roof console) and want to find out how to wire it up to a calais doom light

    PLEASE HELP?????????

the black/blue wire is a switched to earth wire and the violet (not purple) wire goes to the dome reading lights

have you got part numbers for the looms i'm doing something similar

thanks. so what does the "violet" wire actully do?? I can see its at the calais dome light but its not hooked to any thing at the plug next to the drivers seat where it gets pluged into the reat of the car harness, from there and back under the dash theres noting so the violet wire isnt doing any thing.

all the lights work, the only problem is the main globe in the calais light isnt working with the switch " off-door-on" it just stays on until you lock the car or start the car. how do i get the switch to work again as normal????

Im trying to find out what wires are what so i can wire up my vy sunglass holder i installed.

oh and ill have a look for the part nnumber for you.

ok the violet goes to the BCM so maybe you need a higher level one

isn't the dome light on a 30 second timer? cos if it's turning off when you lock or start the car it's probably working as it should

Mr VX, if you continue to use the calais roof harness the centre light will never work with the buttons, on - off - door. it will just be door no matter what you do with the switch. I had the same problem when I tried to install with calais/berlina roof harness. I ended up using my executive harness with four wires. Spliced into wires for the rear courtesy lights as well as vy sunnies holder. However the way I have it wired i am unable to use individual light switch buttons on the sunnies holder, they do nothing, can still use normal switch to turn on and off both lights though so i am satisfied.

You cannot use this harness without the LUX BCM. As stated previously the center dome light will just always remain in the door position no matter what you do with the switch. I have successfully done the conversion in my wagon however. I used the calais rear courtesy lamps and the standard executive dome light. I used the Calais roof harness but chopped the wires and changed them to the correct order so everything was correct for the dome light. Works mint.

i've just bought a map light and have modified the wiring with 2 relays and 2 diodes for it to work as factory fitted with the "on- car- off" and map switches to work

Mr VX the map light has 2 diodes in the wiring when i first got it i was trying to work the wiring out and not realising that there were diodes in the wiring i actually destroyed them so check the ones in your light

this is the wiring without the relays as they make the switch work as it should

    blue/black is earth
    yellow/green to red/black door trigger
orange/black to green constant 12 volts

the 3 wires on the map light switch RED BLUE WHITE

    off position no contact "open"
door position RED to BLUE "closed"
on position RED to WHITE "closed"

I chopped the purple wire and sliced it into the black wire so it would ground the system. Then I cut and rewired the plug so that the pins on the dome light plug married up to the pins on the plug in the pillar. So basically each system could operate separately in it's intended way of the one loom.

Ive got the wiring diagrams here and from that I could work out which wires to solder where if you like.
