Hey I have notice a couple of times now my rear passenger footwell is soaked like I mean I noticed it yesterday and there was a puddle in there enough water to completly drench a bath towel.
I can't be certain if this is related to the rain we have had or the A/C it has to be one of the two although last time I noticed it I have been using the A/C and it has been raining so I don't know... I know that the front is usally the A/C or heater core so I'm thinking I might have a leak somewhere and the rain is coming in.
Has anyone had this happen before? Any tips on where I should start to look?
Cheers

yeah i have seen them shrink 3 inches before
Oh ok what do you mean by the rear quarter glass seal? My rear quarters don't have any windows in them?
of course you do
this is where the water gets in i've applied sealant there

Well if you want to get technical those windows are in the door thats why I was a little confised.
Anywho I have no noticed that 3 of my doors leak. The two front and the rear left. Having said that the rear left is by far the worst..
What I have noticed is that the water seems to pool in the rubber seal and then eventually it overflows into the car.
Any ideas as to why it would be doing that and how I would go about stopping it?
Should punching some holes in the seal at the bottom allow the water to drain out? Or would just just stuff them?
Can anyone help with this? Havea look at what I am dealing with..
This is the rear left being the worst but the two fronts are not far behind.. I think I might have someone to do with the door seals as the water seems to pool in the chanel of them.. Would cutting some holes in it help?

Holly sh1t thats bad. I have the same problem. Rear passenger and front driver. haha. maybe try going to the wreckers for some new seals.
Common problem , quick fix . Remove the plastic scuff panels , pull off the door seals on the body ,now with a plastic or rubber hammer tap the lip , that the seal goes on , out a couple mm put it all back together . Problem solved . What happens is the rubbers lose there seal , when u get heavy rain water builds up like a dam in the door jam area above the dust seal thus leakin through the rubber and onto the back floor . Which reminds me I'd better go do mine lol
^^^ nice, awesome post champ!!!!!
thats a lot water
i was getting 1% if that
i have the same problem but mine is the front passenger side, it gets flooded everytime it rains abd i have no idea where its comming in
I have finally figured out what it was.. It is the plastic sheeting behind the interior door panels. I took the interior door panels off and poured water down the outside of the window and you should have seen it. It basically hits that plastic sheeting and then it should bounce off and go down the door channels. However mine wasn't stuck down so it was going in-between the door and the door panel and then into the car..
I realised that it was only happening on the two front and rear left and thats because I have pulled those plastic sheets off to do work on the car. The two fronts weren't to bad as I only removed a small section of those when I was installing my speakers, where as the rear left was almost completely off as I had to replace the wiring loom in that door.
Simple solution = I went down to bunnings bought some duct tape & builders plastic (the plastic was for the section that was torn and unusable) went to supercheap and bought some black silicone sealer sealed them up and the taped all the edges down.
It seems ok for now however I used a bit of the silicone to stick two pieces of the cut off plastic together and let it set once dry I tried to pull them apart and it just fell off so I think I have chosen the wrong stuff. Although the duct tape is there as a backup.
I don't know what the stuff is they use to seal those plastic sheets on with and no one at an auto store could help me so I just tried anything..
Does anyone know what it might be? Most cars it is black and really sticky stuff. Like bluetack that you can keep using but a lot stickier..
^^^^^^^^^ another good point , but would suggest to me tht the weather strips on the outside on top of the door are shot . The black sticky shit u are talkin about , is bastard stuff any beater'll tell u that , ull hafta go to a fairdinkum automotive paint supplier for that ,i cant remember the name of it sorry
At 43 a wealth of info , but still heaps to learn
I discovered soon after buying my VY that it had a massive leak in the rear passenger side door. I took the door trim off to find the plastic seal had been torn and reglued with some type of Sikaflex adhesive. I spent ages peeling that off and cleaned up the plastic seal and stuck it back down with some windscrean sealant which lasted until the sealant dried out then it began to leak again. I noticed a lot of water coming out from the door trim where there should have been some screws along the bottom.
Then I got a new plastic seal from Holden and stuck it on with some 3M spray adhesive, replaced the white clips the trim screws to and the missing screws and it has been all good so far, the only leak now if from the door seal but it depends on how the car is parked etc and does not always happen. When I open the door there is water in the seam of the seal at the bottom of the door opening so I am assuming the seal does not close with enough pressure, this happens on most of the doors however none of the others leak. My car has a fairly large gap at the back edge of the rear doors where the seal that is on the sill panel finishes.
