Alternator squeal

Lately on cold starts or just starts it squeals loudly and when I put my foot down, I got my mate rev it and the bearing squeals, I wd40 it but only lasted 30 seconds..... Lately it's been abit weak on starts so I had my idea that it was dying, but no battery light,

Any idea?

i would look replacing the serpentine belt and if you're getting sluggish start maybe time for a new battery

The belt was replaced like 100ks ago, it sounds like the bearing i'n the alternator is busted badly

sure it's the bearings? feel for freeplay to be sure.

could also be loose or worn belt, worn pulley, or it could actually be another pulley causing the noise. It can be tricky to pinpoint the noise. I've been fooled plenty of times!

All the pulleys have been replaced, belt replaced can you by the alternator pulley?

Do Vt's run 12V or 14V?
and is it the 2pin set up?

with the car off the battery should read around 12.5v-12.8V, wen on idle with no accessories on it should b 14V-14.4V

wat does urs read from the battery and/or alternator?

oh i think i miss read ur post thinkin u wanna know wat the output was, not about the actual alternator lol.

If ur alternator is chargin fine it wouldnt hurt 2 get the bearings replaced 2 fix the noise.... Geniune alternators r quite expensive 2 replace i had 1 rewound, bearings and rings all replace 4 $150 years ago i think.

Does actually, u could call a few Auto elec places b4 u buy and compare prices 2 give u some idea of which way 2 go.
