hi all, im doing a auto to manual conversion on my series 2 executive, i have got the mechanical side down pact but i was wondering if i would need to change the PCM, BCM, and ECU??? Is it possible just to use a manual memcal in the auto ECU?? and would i just be able to tune the PCM and BCM to manual or something like that. any help would be awsome. thanx
The ECU and PCM are basically the same thing, you either have one or the other, in a VT I think it has an ECU. I think PCM's came later but I don't know much about that. The BCM has nothing to do with the running or the engine or transmission so it won't need to be changed.

so would i need to change the ECU or just the memcal? i got told that the BCM would still think it is an auto and the car wont run thanks
VN Commodores you didn't need to change the computer, just join the neutral safety wires together. I am not sure about VR onwards with the electronic boxes. I have a mate of mine who did his VR Commodore and he had to change his ECU and loom. I think the control module and ECU and tied together? ? ? ?
Yours Kindly,
Jim
As I said, I don't really know much about ECUs but I would imagine it could be just a memcal change, give it time and someone will give you an exact answer. Things are quite during the day. The Body Control Module controls things like lights, power windows, central locking, immobiliser and a lot of other things but it doesn't control anything to do with the engine or transmission.

yeh thanks guys turned out i wrote me car off so i dont think i will be doing it lol thanks anyway
unlucky 'bout the smash mate.
But for future reference, its a pretty easy modification to anyone that has a $60 EPROM programmer. The guys over at delcohacking.net have made it simple, just a tickbox in the program, then write to the chip. The tickbox changes all the necessary stuff such as speed sensors and the computer throwing errors when it cant detect the auto tranny etc.
