Just wondering what fuel economy people are getting in their 6's and 8's as my parents have 1 of each.. just looking for a comparison
v6 Executive 11L/100km
v8 (monaro) 10.5L/100km Best was 7.9L/100km going to qld
Both combined
Cheers
I Get 750KM to my 75ltr Tank so 10L Per 100KMs. 7.1 Best
Old mans SS, Best ever 7.6L, Worst Ever 55L lol. AVG 12ish
okay so about 600 round town in the v6
best was 980 in the monaro
Yeah thats about right, In real city traffic gets down around 400 :-( Lucky i just drive on a Freeway.
980km wtf?
Best I've seen out of my SS is 11.2/100. Mixture of town and highway. Which is fairly reasonable, given the power difference between an LS1 and an ecotec I would pay for the slight difference in economy any day.
Only for the first week, you get used to it eventually and the novelty wears off, especially when you go to fill it up.
I'd just rather have the option there, because there is no point putting your foot down in an v6 powered car.
Agreed, After seeing the Old mans VY SS and fuel difference From th VS V6, the SS Was better lol. I Will Have a LS1 some day lol
I just putt around in My V6, but still has a little bit of power when you need to merge or something, Good for towing shit to witch i do a bit of.
lol, I'm building a 355 at the moment. I'm hoping for at least 15/100 from it.
yeah mate the monaro is a freak car, 6.4L long gear ratios
but sitting on 100km/h up to QLD with a/c on it got 983 kms before he fueld up, guessing he still had a few mL left
mmmmmmk. lol
1000km out of a 75ltr tank.
80L tank from memory
And this bullcrap going on about the New SIDI Commodore 900kms on a single tanl lol, the Older Monaro V8 does better lol
Yeah, of course it does.. lol.
Mind you that was a 1 off thing but still get great mileage now
I drive my VX SS fairly quietly, even though I have not really worked out my consumption around town I suspect it would be returning around the mid teens, 14 to 16lt per 100 km,
that is in average traffic with a lot of stop start. I have however worked it out several times on the highway, we have in-laws that live in Northern Victoria and we do a 500km round trip every 6 weeks or so, I sit on the speed limit and set the cruise to 100 or 110 depending on the speed limit and every time I have worked it out by refilling after the trip and calculating the litres used it nearly always comes out at pretty close to 10 lt per 100km on the highway, by the fuel gauge it always has a good solid 1/4 tank of fuel showing when we get back home. The car is completely standard, exactly as it was when I bought it new, and has only done 68,000km.
So they are brilliant on the highway, but a bit average around town.
Yeah that sounds about right.
You might find with a free flowing exhaust that your high way economy will probably improved.
You noticed the economy got worse?
No It improved, thats what you said.

Yeah I know, I was just a bit confused because you said you noticed it go up.
Haven't had mine long, afaik everything is stock. I've only filled it three times now. Generally 90-10 split highway - town
75L Tank normal petrol
823km I was very light on the pedal early on though only travelling 90km/h on the highway due to the different sensation of speed compared to the high driving position in my old 4WD, and being night time in the rain the first time I drove it.
756km (more town driving in this one)
775km
At the moment I'm working down from over 14l/100. Now at 11.2l/100. That's 70-30 highway/city split. still dropping.
