Very basic question. My 1998 Acclaim VT right brake light globe is not working and I need to replace it.
1. What bulb do I buy (from supercheap auto etc?) - is there a size or a number?
2. How do I replace it?
Yup - I'm a newbie!
It's just a standard double filament globe. Easiest thing to do is remove your globe, take it with you to Supercheap and visually compare it.
To remove it, open your boot. On the side of the tail light near the boot seal you should see two screws. Undo those screws and then you should be able to pop the light out. The globe holder just unscrews from the tail light and then you just unscrew the globe from the holder.

just go in and ask for a brakelight bulb for a commodore. they should know. when you undo the light assembly pull straight back as there is a clip on the side opposite side to the screws
i do as the voices tell me
two screws on the boot edge
a friction knob on the bodywork side... use some strength to pop it out
easy as
Thanks a zillion - followed instructions as above:
1. Removed and inspected bulb (Thanks for the info!)
2. Got a brake light bulb from a gas station
Had my brake lights working that evening!
Only problem is I did NOT change the bulb - guess the removing and checking took care of some loose connection.
Duh!
It's a good idea to carry in the glove box spare globes to cover all the external lights. So if you are out and one blows, you can replace it before you get pulled over and have a defect notice put on your car.
Happened to me last week, got pulled over by police and told my brake light was not working, so I promptly replaced it on the spot without any defect being issued.
