just wondering the difference in power a port and polish makes to an ecotec v6. my vt is making 127.8 rwkw
now with full exhaust, otr cod air intake, custom high ratio roller rockers and push rods, full msd ignition
setup, 69mm ported throttle body, 18mm plemun spacer and manifold heat shield. also upgrading valve
springs at the moment. any ideas?
You should look at upgrading the cam before you bother with the heads. No point doing the head work if the engine is still only going to use the same amount of air.
sweet thanks. any opinion on a stage 2 comp cam and chip package from mace engineering?
Haven't used it personally.
Seems like a bit of a baby cam going by the specs. That said I'm not sure on the in's and out's of Ecotecs. So don't take much notice of that :P

This cam was designed for use with totally stock heads, and stock valve train. Upgraded pushrods are recommended but not needed.
Revving past 6200 RPM will require upgraded springs. Either 90 or 105# springs are recommended for high RPM use.
This cam was designed for naturally aspirated applications where maximising the performance of stock heads is important. Idle is lumpy,
especially with extractors. Raising shift points to 6500 RPM, rev limit to 7000 RPM, and gears/converter are all recommended.
Look for gains of 19-26 kW depending on your car's current configuration.

yer i wasnt sure which one to go. i dont understand the specs at all. they also have a stage 3 cam for the same price but i was worried about going too big and loosing power.
Thats where you probably to talk to someone who really know's V6 engines, not just a bunch of arm chair experts on the net.
What do you want the car for?
Daily?
If so, the stage 2 is probably all you need. You might want to contact nicefrog on ebay regarding a custom tune to suit. For $70 you can't go wrong. (do the cam before the tune, and give him the specs)
yer sort of a daily driver at the moent. i go down the drags with mates sometimes. just chasing more power really. looking at a raptor supercharger kit in about 7 months when i get off my ps.
Well, you might want to find out if that stage 2 cam will be appropriate for a FI application. My bet is that its probably not.
yer probably not. i will talk to a mechanic or engineer. i know a couple. thanks heaps for the advice really appreciate it.
