hey guys, have been on and off the forum, previously had a vt ss II, now have changed recently to a vx ss II, i seem to have a tad of lifter noise, the car was just serviced, i havent put the engine cover on, is this common for the LS1 to have a bit of noise??
a few mechanics have told me that they are a noisey engine...
cheers,
kosta.
bought the same model car 1 month ago has same issue i guess its common

might wanna update ya ride detailsif its a tickin type noise a mate fixed his with a bottle of octane booster
you plannin on doin anythin too it? pics??
Yeah mate, getting the extractors and high flow cats put on this week, then im either thinking turbo or supercharger, turbo would be interesting...
a small overview of the car, color is hyper yellow, sits on 20" signatures, full black leather interior, sunroof, very very clean. il chuck some pics up when i get home tonight..
not a fan of that colour but the rest sounds great
Had lifter noise in my 2000 vtss guy at repco talked me into putting thicker oil in cause it's done 180000 big mistake oil pump had problems getting the thick oil up to top end changed back to thiner oil noise gone
i thought the octane booster would be fuel related? I was advised that 'thicker' oil would help quiet down the lifters, but i didnt see any change from 10w/40 to 15w/40. I switched to 5w/50 and the lifter noise was gone. weird...
Fresh oil change might make it a bit better, or once the car gets up to temperature it can go away, otherwise - just a common fault.

very common mate! mine never had it but then it started a bit, i made a you tube video on here somewhere. i then changed the lfters when i did a cam swap and now its all good. however one of the lobes on my stock cam was chopped out.
