Question Lukey exhaust Quote seems HIGH

After much research on this forum, I got a quote for my 01 VX S 3.8 catback from carline in SA. It seems high for a bolton that i could probably put on myself. This is what I asked for:

Supply and install best price wise with these parts: # AL5-5712, (centre catback muffler)# T5713 (piping to rear) and a chrome tip + clamps.

"The Lukey system for your Commodore, with tip , fully installed on your car $420:00"
Another quote was $380 + chrome tip at AAA exhausts. They just seem high???
Anyone know where I can buy Lukey gear in SA or online?
    Any suggestions or help appreciated.

Maybe I've been reading too much....it just seems cheaper to order it from supercheap/repco etc and then fit it myself...but i really appreciate the input from everyone. Just want to know the benefit of paying retail when it's the same parts???

"How long ago was that? And was that for just the tail pipe or the middle muffler as well?
The cheapest I have found installed in my area is $310...Plus it isn't exactly a big job to install a cat back I couldn't imagine labour being that much...?"

Another post on the setup i wanted...."Yeah he's correct I went there today, you need to ask for the two parts and it works out at like $250 ish for the whole catback from supercheap."

    fk supercheap.
after their recent ad campaign about opening doors on motorcyclists and that it's just 'Carma' if you were to do it to them for splitting.
They'll never see business from me again, not unless I'm severely desperate or in many years time.
(I ride also and that shit is just not on).

    But anyway,

I was actually expecting supply and fit of a cat back system to be more expensive to be honest.
years ago I got one done for a skyline, I think it was a full custom job, that was near 1k.
I've got an intermittent rattle in my exhaust (could be stuffed cat maybe), and was concerned about the potential price of a replacement job, but after seeing those rough figures, I would consider that to be not bad at all dude.

If you can fit it yourself, then go nuts I'd say, save all the money you can on labour to put towards somethin else!

Only tools you should need is a flathead screwdriver to get clips/rubber mounts off & socket set to undo 2 nuts at the cat. and something to jack car up and support while your underneath.

Is there a type of bonding agent that needs to be placed on the gaskets at all ? or do you just use the gasket and tighten like hell ??

of course if you buy off ebay and fit yourself it's gonna be cheaper than a drive in drive out job at one of the 'name' exhaust shops

What did you get for that price?i would say you got RIPPED considering uneek has linked two exhausts (brand new) an the second is only $19 more than the price you payed for a second hand 1.
Take it easy...But do take it...
