Default Clock springs, are they only available at Holden?

I think I might be needing a new clock spring ( the dreaded air bag light) and I was wondering if anyone knows if they can be bought anywhere else apart from Holden? I want a new one and all the clock springs listed on ebay are second hand and I want something that will last for a while.
I only buy from Holden if there is no alternative.
    Cheers

Not sure on where you get another one, but am interested to find out how much you pay for one. I take it you will be getting the one with steering controls?

I thought so, I got quoted the same price from Holden. For that price I'm tempted to go second hand. Thanks for the reply.

The $220 I was quoted today was for one suitable for audio controls.

Thanks for that. I've just got to make sure that is the problem first.

I know you asked this ??? a few days ago.
airbag light comming on could be a number of things. not just the clock spring.
it could be the elec plugs for the seatbelt tensioners they get dirty and cause a fault.
(more than likely the cause). a fault with 1 of the airbags, the airbag control mod (under the center consol) might be stuffed, If you recently changed your dash board or even had it out with the key on can cause the light to come on either way you will need to have the airbag fault code cleared with a tec 2.
this is about $125.00 from holden. when they have the tec 2 conneceted it will tell them where the fault is.

    hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. I had a mechanic reset my airbag light but he forgot to take a note of the fault code. Anyway, I sort of suspected the clock spring because it is a very common fault. A few days after the light was reset I was turning sharply into a parking spot when the airbag light and chime came on again, this makes me suspect the clock spring even more. I will be going back to the mechanic and this time find out what the code is before resetting. He only charged me $10.

    WOW!

Where is this mech who charged you $10 to get it reset?

The light is on in my car and my mech told me it will be about $400 to change the clock spring, so thats a bit much...

It was at a transmission place in Campbelltown in Sydney, I was there for something else and he had just purchased a a scan tool so I guess it was all new to him so he only charged $10.
$400 sounds a bit much, that's almost $200 for labour for an easy job, half an hour at most.

Got one you can have for $60 + postage that suits the steering audio controls.
