Sounds like the ECU has had it.

Does the ABS warning light come on all the time too? That's also linked to the seat-belt pretensioners.

My VT did the same bloody thing, cruise control and air-con wouldn't work everytime the engine and airbag light kept coming up. Tests from Holden said "the ABS module is stuffed" so I'd respond, it's an EXECUTIVE and DOESN'T HAVE ABS. I tried a replacement ECU and the car wouldn't even start, but I think that was an issue with the BCM not communicating with the ECU to disable the immobiliser.

So, three more things to look at:
    1. Replace ECU - pretty cheap from eBay
    2. Replace BCM - not cheap from Holden
    3. Replace seatbelt pretentioners (things that explode and lock the seatbelts in a crash) - even more not cheap from Holden

Then, just hope it fixes the issue.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

anyway to test the pretentioners before replacing them? as my abs module is giving me issues too and would like to test everything before getting a new module

if the tech computer doesn't report anything it's very difficult to test explosive bolts...

To start with I would be swapping the ABS fuse, and main fuse and under dash fuse 31 and check main power leads and fusible links and earth connections
If you don't have any luck. 90 percent of those symptoms are traced to the PCM.
see if you can borrow one and get it linked
now it is not starting is your red mode light flashing when you are cranking?
do you have any error messages on dash when cranking?
does it keep cranking until you give up or does it stop by itself after a few seconds?

aussiepride23- we have already changed the abs mod,
lout- fuses have been checked, and electriction has checked all leads, connections, ect ect
whats a pcm? do you mean bcm
    no error msg on dash,
car turns over almost fires but just refuses to run, stops by itself less then a second.
i dont want to be throwing money away trying to fix the problem as i wont get back what ive already spent in trying to fix the car.
another guy has also said the harmonic balancer??? anyone agree?

To throw my 2 cents in.
It is definitely something electrical and is upsetting the communications bus between all the devices. These include the ECU, BCM, ABS, Airbags, electronic climate, dash plus a few other smaller minor things.
I would rule out the ABS module as that has already been replaced.
Have you checked the error codes in the ECU? There is a thread in the How To section that explains it.

But from what you are saying and others it could very well be the ECU as it won't run any more. Possibly get the electrician to check it out before replacing it.
I don't have a wiring diagram with me but I think the oil pressure sensor runs through the ECU and could even be an indication.
With the power button not working and the A/C indicates the ECU is going into limp home mode and will prevent any of these from working.
Maybe even pull the ECU apart and check there is no physical signs of damage to any chips on the board.

i will hold off till i want to chuck more money into this hole but for the time being it can sit in the shed and will get a new car. holden carnt even pin point what the problem is..
they thought it was the battery for start. everytime i get a machinic to look at it, the faults go away for 2 weeks and then come back. but now also i need to tow it to a mechinic to have it looked at. so it can wait. i need to get a car for the time being that wont strand me in the middle of no were.
