    Default Engine mounts?????

    guys i bought new pair of engine mounts for vx v6 today from Holden and they are 160$ for (both) i couldn't believe it how come they very cheap from Holden??? anyways Holden told me that these are hudrolic ones but i don't know i got feeling that these are solid ones but i couldn't know.. for god sake guys can someone tell me how to know solid mounts from hudrolic ones?????

    i need to find out quickly so i can return them back coz am after the hydraulic ones. what about if they are solid should i return them back or install them right away are the solid good?????

    They will likely be the Hydraulic ones, you certainly won't be able to tell by using your hands as they are designed to have a few hundred kilo engine on them.

    Just use them they will be alright.

    Also try waiting more than 7 minutes before bumping your own thread.

    thanks mate but somebody had told me now that the hydraulic plates ones are different from the solid ones. i don't know what mounts plates are on my car.

    Just the actual mount is different, they all bolt up the same.

    the ones i bought you could shake to hear the hydraulic fluid.
    I pulled my old ones out, one was gone, the other still had some fluid in it.

    yes mate GM MOUNTS usually cost more then that between 300 340$. i got all the tools needed to do the job but there is noway in hell to do it coz its really scary job man. the funny thing about all this that i started to ring some local mobile mechanics to get a quote and one of the decent mechanic told me over the phone that hes gonna take off the (oil filter)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! air compressor crank angel sensor ( bending fuel lines) i goes what the #### don't tell you gonna take out the fuel filter as-well lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll never heard of mechanics taking off all this shit specially (crank angel sensor (oil filter). correct me if am wrong guys....

    i got genuine holden mounts fitted by repco service centre about 3 months ago, cost $300 all up

    just a quick update.............. i did my mounts at pedders today i couldn't believe it after exactly 25 mints the guy over there came to me with car keys and goes your car is ready mate. my god this so quick and they didn't touch the air compressor at all!!!!!!!!! i was wondering why a lot of people say its 3 to 4 hours or maybe a full day.anyway i wonder why did they dis the battery?????? no one at pedders mention that to me i did find out when i checked my trip meter was 0 and the radio was asking for pin so which means that they dis the battery. now car runs little sluggish.

    Thats because they have a hoist an have probabley done it a million times. Try doing it in your driveway on jack stands for the 1st time.

    When working on the car, ALWAYS disconnect the battery. The car will relearn itself over the next 2 days, don't worry.

    130$ for fitting but the mounts i got them cheap from Holden for 160$. man i couldt believe how the engine is very height now if u look from underneath.

    but mate it depends which branch coz as you know every shop have there own price for example here in Sydney west peders next to my home they charged 130$ but another peders shop needed 320$ only for labor.

    I probably would have preferred to go to to work for a day and pay $130 for the mounts to be fitted by pedders.
    First time I did it, it took me all day.
    If i did it again, I could do it in 2 - 4 hours tops, possibly an hour for the third time?

    mate its a pain in the ass to do it yourself. anyway just a question i didn't replace the gear mount upon replacing engine mounts. so do you think is it a must to replace it upon replacing engine mounts???????
