Default VX Rear suspension crossmember mounts, how to change?

Hi guys, just had the VX calais in for rwc and they have failed it on the rear suspension crossmember mounts, these are the 2 big bushes either side where it bolts to the chassis bottom most left and right in the picture.
My question is does the whole rear end have to be dropped out of the car (like sample picture)
Or is it possible to remove the plate that covers them and change them with the rear end still in place??
Are they press fitted or will they come out easy once the plate thats held in with 3 15mm bolts is removed

    Thanks

It's as simple as removing the plate and swapping out the bush. Get a big breaker bar for the main bolt and technically since the bolt is torque-to-yield, it should be replaced too.

Any chance you could copy and paste it to here? it wont let me read it on that forum.
Is the bush not press fitted to the crossmember?
    Thanks for the reply

I'd rather not, not sure of the etiquette of that, plus it's free to sign up, there's a number of other DIYs there you might find interesting, and there's a number of photos in the DIY that I'd have to manually paste the links one by one.

The bush can be pryed out with a screwdriver (decent size one).
There are 3 spots around the bush where there is room to do this.
I'd say you could partially remove the crossmember, enough so that you don't need to disconnect brakes etc. but this could prove tricky, as could getting the bush out from this position.
If you have a series 1 VX, why not upgrade to a series 2 onwards IRS? Unless of course you are selling your car.
Check out "VY IRS into VT", the thread should be somehere on the first page of the VT to VX section and covers this topic extensively.
Otherwise I'm sure someone on here has just changed the bushes without removing the whole rear end for a full rebuild or upgrade.

its a seriers 2 VX calais mate so already has the "adjustable" rear end, ive just replaced all the rear suspension bushes and really dont want to pull the whole rear end apart again.

I was hoping just to be able to remove the plate and undo the main 18/19mm bolt then just pop the mount out and replace it.

Will be ordering the new mounts later this week so will let you know how i go once i change them, if anyone has any extra info on how to change them in the meantime please feel free to share

    Thanks guys.
