Hi Guys,
I experienced abit of road rage against me on Friday night in which someone decided to kick my rear 1/4 panel.
He left a dent on the passengers side rear wheel arch right on the body contour line, as pictured.
I have been quoated $450 + GST to fix this...Does that seem reasonable?
Simon

Look in the phone book for paint-less dent repairs, they are have mobile vans and sometimes do free quotes.
One guy in Adelaide does $20 dent removals, after the hail storms in Perth a while back a guy in the Adelaide markets bout 19 cars from Perth and got them all transported over here, average 20-30 dents per car but they were classed as repairable write offs. One example is a HSV ute he got for $20 grand, apparently worth $50-60 grand, the guy that does the dent removals charged him about $400 to take out all the dents from hail, another $500 for VIV inspection and sold it for $40 grand. He made a lot of money out of all those cars and the guy removing the dents was very happy because he had so much work averaging 2-3 cars a day = up to $1500 or so.
Sorry I don't remember the guy who does it but if you don't find anything cheap by ringing around I can ask my brother that works with the guy at the markets for the name/number.
If $400-500 is enough to fix a full hail damaged car I think $450 is over priced for that damage you have. Panel beaters are busy these days, lots will turn you away or say we can book you in for 6 months time, I was quoted that it would cost $2500+ to repair the damage to my VT and they wont have any time until April. A guy that works there (a friend of my brother) said he will do it on the weekend in his own time, cost me $300 with receipts and did a perfect job.
Good luck though looking around, try avoid panel beaters if possible.
i'd like to see how you go
$450 represents a traditional fix
i think they drill a hole, slide hammer out the dent, weld the hole, bog it up and spray
i have doubts the dent pullers can pull that out cheap as it's on the leading edge
would love to be proved wrong as i have a similar skim on mine
I had a paintless dent removal guy look at it today and he couldn't do it because it is double skinned and inaccessable...
So, looks like its going to be an expensive fix![]()

Is it just me or does that seem like its the drivers side.
Also the repair does seem expensive but being on the line AND being on the double skined area means it will be a lot harder to fix and get perfect.
A significant part of the cost will be painting as the whole panel will most likely be painted and blended once the repair is done.
VR through to VX wrecking in WA, must get rid of these!

for a VX SS i'd be prepared to fix it... it is an SS after all...
i have a VT Exec. and it's less severe than that so i'll wear it
Sorry, that was a Typo. It is indeed the drivers side.
And I am probably going to get it fixed. Its the principle of it really![]()
Its the only dent on the whole damn car. The car only has 70,000k's on it so its got to be worth fixing![]()
