Just purchased a 2002 VX II Equipe with 117,000 KLM's on it as a second car. It is unusual in it had PBR Dual Piston Front Brakes. Unfortunately, they need new pads.
Has any one had any experience with sourcing new pads for these.?
Looking on the Bendix web site it looks as if a DB 1332 or a DB 1344 are the same size.
Are these size pads much more expensive than the regular size pads for a V6 Commodore ?
The vehicle also has a Pedders gas suspension and Pedders bush's all through the front suspension.
It is a nice smooth drive.
Cheers Peter
According to my Holden service manual, the PBR twin or tandem piston front caliper is standard on all VTs and VXs, abs or not. Front brake pads on ebay from $34.25 for bog plain ones to $319 for Red Stuff, delivered/posted. your local spare parts place will have them also. My spare parts places sells standard ones for around $35 and Bendix for as much as $60. Take a pad in for comparison when you go to buy them.

All VT onwards had dual piston front brakes. Standard equipment.
Thank you for the reply,
Yes you are right. My blunder.
What threw me was the Police Pack Brake pads. The brake material covers a lot more of the pad area than the standard pad.
The standard Bendix 1331 has far less area contact as opposed to the Police Pack pads ( $200 ).
After a phone call to Bendix Technical assistance, a very helpful gentleman told me that the calipers I have are standard Holden and to just put the standard 1331 pads on and DO NOT bother to hunt up the Police Pack pads.

I purchased a set of new front disc rotors and pads off ebay a few months ago and the pads I was supplied had brake material to within about 2mm of the edge of the pad. Does the brake material on your police pads go right to the edge of the backing? Or are the calipers and pads just bigger? I have not seen police brakes so I do not know. Just a thought, I, like many other forum members, am just trying to help.
The material come close to the edges of the pad. Super Cheap Auto does have a cheap after matket brand of pad that does have material that covers as much pad as the Police Pack ones.
They were honest enough to suggest I do not purchase them as they squeel and create a lot of dust. They said just stick with the Bendix 1331's which I have done.
It now looks like the calipers are standard.
Cheers
