Just wanting to know if anyone has put a 2600 torque converter behind a vt or vx ecotec and if you had any dramas with it?
I've just converted a vx calais which had a supercharged v6 in it back to a standard ecotec but kept the supercharged auto box and torque converter which is 2600 stall as compared to 1800 stall on the ecotec. I used the ecotec flex plate too as they're a different balance factor.
What was once a perfect and hard shifting box is now flaring and slipping on changes and also has a bit of a surge happening sometimes when cruising at a constant speed on flat road. When it does this the revs will fluctuate from say, 1800 to 2200 revs and surge each time it does this.
So now im trying to determine if the ecotec in standard form can't handle the higher stall or if i have a seperate problem with the box. I've only ever really dealt with manual boxes.
Cheers for any help or ideas
