Default vt v6 engine swap... supercharged v6 or v8?

hey all.. so up for a new engine in my vt.. after weighing up my options im considering going down the path of either dropping in the supercharged v6 or the v8... what are the pros and con's?
it currently has the v6 in it, which has done it's day!
if i were to drop either of these engines in it, apart from doing so, what else would i have to modify / change?

is dropping the supercharged v6 straight in an option?
sorry kind of new to this!!

what kind of money am i looking at for this project?

    thanks alot, andy

Probably easier to slot the L67 in.
    Less electrical modifications???

If its a series 1 Vt, 5ltr would be cool.

    Thanks for the reply!
Okay, so the l67 is another option!
Apart from changing the engine with either engines, what else would be required to be changed?
    Diff? Cooling radiator etc..?
It is a job possibly not worth doing?
Which would be the easier / most cost effective conversion? the 6 or the 8?

    Thanks, Andy

I don't think there is much differance to be honest. Probably the ecu and i would be putting bigger breaks on but the l67 is basically the standard ecotec with a supercharger factory so it would be easier to put that in but imo cooler to have a v8

Yeah, an 8 would be nice, although I'm going for an easier option as time only permits such a conversion! The headache of a v8 seems daunting considering!!

If I can get away with dropping an l67 straight in, then that's definitely preferred!!
If not, then I'll drop a new l36 in and turbo it at a later date

    Thanks

mate if your guna go to the trouble of changing to a different motor then go ls1 dont muck around with the sc v6 or the 5.0 v8 they are both terrible on fuel and are no were near as quick as the ls1, ive got a vt ss ls1 atm and have had several 5ltrs and a few sc/ v6s and the ls1 would pump them every day all day and still be better on fuel lol

    Question

You could rebuild the standard 6 and buy the L67 top end that is ending on eBay soon.
Ls1 would be great but prob alot more work and easier to just sell yours and buy a v8 car.
The L67 super 6's are a great motor, half the price of a ls1 and would have to be easier to fit. There is a huge market for performance parts for them now too.
The few thousand you would save on buyin the 6 could be put back into mods and have it killing stock v8s.
If you wants massive power and have a decent sized budget, or just a good cruising car that sounds great get a v8.

If you want a sleeper or a car for beating people at traffic lights get the L67. They may not get the fastest 1/4 times or win many dyno comps but good ones beat just about anything within reason over the first 100m. V6's sound like arse though.

^^^^, ive seen the l67s advertised for no less that 1500 - 2000, ls1s are going for around the same price also my ls1 only has a cat back exhaust no other perfomance mods and my mate has a sc v6 vx berlina 10 psi pully pacemakers highflow cats twin 2 1/2" and 345 diff gears and my ls1 eats it so easy its not funny also my ls1 gets 16ltrs per 100ks around town no free ways at all and no pussy footing and his vx can barely get under 19ltrs per 100ks taking it easy. i personally think there a terrible engine and as soon as something goes BANG u know your up for big bucks and as for being harder to convert to ls1, if you are mechanicaly minded its preety easy to do if your not then it might be a bit of a head ache but very worth it in the end

I didn't realise Ls1's were going that cheap now. I have to admit I would go for the v8 but I'm going to love smashing some 8's in my L67 after the next round of mods.
The reason "Slepars" mate gets chopped is because he's put a twin 2 1/2 system on a pretty much stock engine killing it's low down pull, it would be faster with a single 2 1/2.
Mine made 188rwkw with a single press bent 2 1/2, it's twin now but with alot more mods.
Also his fuel figures are terrible, sounds like he needs new oxy sensors or clean his MAF.
Mines get around 15L in town after giving it abit and cruises using about 7-8L (instant not average) and under 10L for a trip from Geelong to Melbourne and back.

What do you want from the car?
