I bought a new idler pulley for my VT as it's stuffed but didn't realize it was for a V8 when mine is a V6.
The only difference I've found so far is the V8 ones overall diameter Is 76mm while the V6 ones overall diameter is 82mm.
It's the flat rounded one without the grooves.
Will it be fine or do I need a V6 one?
I'd return it but I got it shipped from interstate and can just sell it on eBay if I can't use it as I got it pretty cheap.
Here is the one I bought.
Holden Commodore VT VX VY VZ VE V8 LS1 LS2 Idler Pulley
Fit it and see if the tensioner is within its limits. If it is no worries.
If not spend $20 dollars at repco and get the right one.
I got the 3 idler pulley set off ebay ($60) and fitted them over the weekend. noticed the very bottom pulley was slightly smaller than the original also but reading on the tensioner pulley marks, with a new belt it was right on the "new" line so i didnt bother chasing that 1 up.
