Hi
my mates aircon fan in his vt wont switch off even if the car is off.
I read on here that the relay for the fan could be the fault.
I can only find the aircon relay. Is this the one or is it seperate.??
Cheers
I may have broken the law, but that doesn't make it wrong!
i think its called blower or inhibbiter relay or something?
cheers
ill go check it out asap

check under the bonnet there is a fuse panel. There are fuses and relays under there.
There are 2 relays one for high fan speed and the other one is for low fan speed.
Are both the fans on or only one?
It's probably the fan speed controller, it's a transistor mounted on a heat sink and sits in the plenum chamber and to get it out you need to look behind the glove box. What usually happens is this component shorts out and the fan will run all the time even with the ignition off. You can test it by unplugging it and if you need a new one you can either go to Holden and pay heaps for a new one or take it apart and silder in a new transistor which costs less than $20.00 of you can find one. I fixed one a while back and think the part came from WES in Sydney.
are you talking about thermo fans or air con blower. speed controler is internal on climate control. sounds like the relay. how did you go?
