    Default Auto Transmission Problem

    Hey guys,

So I was driving to Newcastle the other day and after being on the F3 for about an hour I lost 4th gear. I found that when going down a hill it would sit in 4th so long as I kept my foot off the accelerator, but on the flats it wouldn't hold 4th. For instance came to the bottom of a hill doing about 90 @1500revs, soon as I touched the accelerator it revved through to 2500 and clicked into 3rd gear. Once I got there I left it overnight and it was fine again, so it only seems to do it when it warms up and runs for a few hours, as it did it on the way back too.

Any ideas what it might be? I'm going to get the gearbox serviced soon anyway, along with a general service, but I was wondering if anyone might have clue as to what it is?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike.

    Hi MikeCuzzy

Mine does this too! There was a thread a couple of days ago similar to your problem - check it out!

Actually mine did this this morning. You are going 100kmh @ 2000 revs and then its kicks down (or feels like it) and stays there with the revs going up to 2500rpm. Happens as you said mostly on hills when going up you have to change down but then on flat road it wont change back up!

If you do an error check 85 should pop up which is Transmission Slipping. As I said to the other bloke, probably best not to spank it when it does it and take it to a transmission service centre ASAP

Thanks mbvp73, I guess I'll find out when it gets serviced, I'll post on here when I know what it is.
