    Default vx ss mods help

    hey everyone

my step dad was talking to me about modding cars in general, and he says that not to bother modding ur car if it has over 180000ks is this true? like say if a guy had a vx that had 181000ks and he wanted stroke it and put a blower on it would have to have the full engine reconditioned and chemically cleaned? i know this doesnt apply to me but im just wondering since the vx has 97608 (exact) kms would I have to do anything to engine before I started to mod?

Each to their own IMO. Id much rather spend the money that it would cost for 20's and 'dump'ing a car on its arse, on some engine mods. But thats for each person to decide where their priorities are, do they want a looky looky at me car, or a car that flys under the radar but takes off into the distance before people blink.
Anyways, on topic, lol. Define engine mods? If your just talking exhaust/otr/tune/basic cam upgrade etc, then you'd be fine without doing anything else to your car. If you wanna get serious and spend the big dollars and possibly turbo or do something that will put out some serious power, then yeah as Krisp said, you'd wanna make sure EVERY part of the car can deal with the extra power, which an engine with 200K on the clock may not.

ok heres a scenario, my cousin bought a 2000 vx ss which looked decent but its has 182000ks and hes got big plans for the ls1, his doing a stroker twin turbo thingy, would it just be better for him to replace the engine for a ls3 and then start modding it?
with mine im just gonna do what macca said but i want it really loud and it crackle and pop everytime i change down, with exhaust, otr, tune, cam what performance gain can i expect?

on a vx anywhere from 250rwkw to 280rwkw depending on cam an tune you get these are just a guess not exact figures.

they are right, if u wanna go over board, u will need to make sure EVERYTHING is set up right. i have a vx ss and im just going exhaust, otr and maffless. it will make a comfortable amount of power and noise with out losing to much practicality. but id rather a car that looks nice and goes decent that i dont have to fix everytime i drive it than a car thats 'stomp and steer' like some of my mates have. they spend way to much on blown diffs, transmissions, hoses, belts, not to mention tyres and fuel.

Also if you do the "heads" & UD 25% pulley as well and you will be looking at above 280rwkw....
