Default VTII 5.7L Exec or VTII SS?

I've searched everywhere but can't find an answer, hopefully someone here knows.

I'm looking at a few 5.7L VT's and noticed that redbook says the SS will do 0-100 in 6.6seconds; whereas the VTII 5.7L Executive does 0-100 in 9.3seconds... Is this right?

Same engine with same tune I thought, and less weight in the exec. Is the exec really that much slower? And if so why?

    Thanks!

i dont know the answer but if the exec has the same tune as the ss why make a different model.

Doesn't the SS have more features than the exec, better suspension etc?

Must be a mistake in Redbook, sounds like they have given the time for an 'S' not an 'SS'. Out of the 2 I would definetely go the SS, better looking better resale.

Yeah I would be very suprised if the executive had the same tune as the SS. And yeah the SS has much better suspension as well which would help a little I think. But id also bet on the fact redbook has stuffed up.

Check a V6 VT executive, and more than likely will have the same 0 to 100 times.

Redbook have just used the V6 times on the V8 description.

I would agree here with what others have said, that it is a fault on redbook.

Definitely get an SS over an Exec, I personally have a VTII Exec (Ex-Highway patrol), and I love it.

But you will have much better resale plus lots of optional extras in a SS compared to a base model Exec.

    Thanks all.
Reason for looking at an exec is they're half the price of the VTII SS... and I just want this as my daily shitbox to take to the shops and train station. Don't need all the SS fruit.

V6 exec times on redbook are different again. I think I will just go drive one to see. 9.3 seconds is slower than most 4cyl cars these days so it must by wrong!

fe2 suspension. sits about 30mm lower. you can pick this up a lot cheaper than it was an option from the factory and most models this age need some suspension work anyway. The SS is a much better looking car. I didnt like the ss series 2 seat fabric, but it is much better than the exec.

You have to wonder how hard an execs life has been as well?
