Hi All,
I have been having troubles with the electric antenna in my series 2 VX Berlina.
Bit of background:
Antenna stopped working, will not go up. Checked all fuses, all ok.
Removed antenna to check, bench tested working fine.
Checked wiring to antenna, all seems ok. Trigger from head unit tested, all ok.
After cehcking wiring diagrams, I have established that the antenna is controlled via the BCM.
I removed the BCM and opened it up. A brief look at the circuitry, and all appears to be ok.
I am starting to think it will be a relay fault, on the BCM.
My question is, has anyone else experienced this, and if so how has it been fixed.
Thanks in advance!
Sam
the antenna is not controlled by the BCM
there should be 3 wires grnd 12+ the other wire comes from the head unit it supplies 12+ to raise the antenna and when thats removed the antenna retracts
Well according to my workshop manual, the low series (Executive, Acclaim, etc,) is not controlled by the BCM. And you are correct.
However, because mine is a Berlina (mid/high series) it shows that the antenna is controlled by the BCM. I understand this is because the higher spec cars have the control on the head unit for manually adjusting the antenna, whereas the low series does not.
i've had a look at the diagrams and from what i can see the Y/R wire from the HU to BCM would control the up/down of the aerial on the luxury models
and check the output W from the BCM to the aerial
Ok, update. There is no output from the BCM to the antenna on the white wire.
I'd say that the BCM is at fault. No other electronics in the car are playing up, so question is; is it worth the hassles of replacing the BCM/keys to fix my antenna troubles?
or
Should I hard wire the antenna and bypass the BCM?
Thanks,
Sam
ive got a vx r8 and the antenna doesnt go down at all now done all the check you have but cant figure out why its not going down.u cant even adjust it fromt he areial button inside either
