Post VX Berlina indicator not working

I have a VX Berlina where my left indicator stopped working, it started ticking before it stopped but now my right one works and my left one doesn't, I checked the globes and they seem to be fine, can anyone help?

You might need a new flasher unit, located in the fuse panel below the steering column. What happens when you put the hazard lights on?

I haven't tried putting the hazard lights on, didn't think of that, so if I do and they work it would more than likely be the flasher unit?

I think the flasher unit is stuffed. I'm pretty sure that the hazards and the indicators are controlled by the one flasher unit. Twenty something dollars should get you a new one.

I replaced the flasher unit and still not good, the hazard lights did actually work on the old flasher (never get the wife to check this!!) as well as the new but the left indicator still does not work, could it be the wiring?
