    Default Exhaust System Ideas

Hey all. I am thinking of doing a DIY job on my 98 VT S1 exhaust system. It is a V6 btw.

This is how I was going to do it:

After the headers I was going to eliminate everything from the cat converter back and replace with...

    1x High Flow Catalytic Converter
1x Muffler of some sort (not sure yet
1x Straight through angle cut stainless steel 2 and a half inch exhaust tip.

    Is this legal/doable/worth myt time?

i want it to have a grunty noise

if you are worried about $ and still want performance i would definantely go a lukey or other such brand cat back exhaust in 2.5inch mild steel. i know you can pick one of there up for around the $140 mark at the right place and wack it on in under 20 min. no hassle and probably not much dearer anyway.

all fine and will sound good for a 6.

Some might come on and say 'no it is not legal because you need the same amount of factory mufflers which is 2'. Just ignore that, you wont get in trouble for only having a single muffler.

    got a vt s1 too, 6 banger,

undo ur rear muffler and leave it at the diff. may be illegal but then what is not now days?

100% same sound as my brother vx with a redback system,

if its just a std ish 6, factory 2.25 in piping goes beter then the 2.5in

Pacemaker extractors > high flow cats > twin system

The best sound you'll ever get from a v6.

HA! nope not because of the muffler issue... its more you might wanna watch the DB range if you get a particularly smart arse member of the constabulary who gets you on a technicality that your system is something stupid like 2db too loud....... apart from that cant see much wrong with it that will sound really nice comming off a 6.... but have you thought about a twin system as nathanVS pointed out?

    disagree :P

Hurricane Extractors > 2.5inch system > long middle hotdog muffler > early down pipe after the back wheel facing the road

LOL got the video proof haha

Wanna PM me with advice on a VX? Similar stock exhaust sytem between the 2 yeah, so it should be the same?
Tried to reply to your PM earlier but you had a full mailbox D:

VT101, the best pipe/s you can get for a 6cyl are straight stainless steel dual system 2.25"s, and if it's the rumbly-grunty-oomphy noise you want, i suggest replacing the cam, exhaust manifold and extractors.
And while your replacing the extractors, get ones as long as possible . The longer the extractor, in theory, the higher the increase in bottom-end torque.
