Any thoughts? Can it be a main fuse. Car has started to play up electrically recently, but drove it OK yesterday.
Went to it today and doors would not unlock. Battery was completely dead, but didn't even get ignition lights when connected to mates car via jumper leads??
Many Thanks
Cheers.... back in 5mins :-)
They all look fine....
The worst is.... all I want to do is drive it to a wreckers and sell to them for $500 :-)
Main fuse or bcm might be a faulty memcal all sorts of problems can come up .....

If the battery is completely dead and you hook the jumper cables to it, the battery will draw too much current and not enough will be heading to your starter motor and such. Try just using your mates battery in your car, don't go cranking endlessly or it will get flat too. One trick I have used to get me out of trouble a few occasions (do it at your own risk), is start up your mates car, remove the battery (the car will continue to run), put the battery in yours, start yours, Then swap batteries back. Every car manual I've ever read tells you never to do this cause batteries can explode, car electronics can get fried, etc.
lol i did this to my gf's pulsar the other day.. never new the batterys could blow up =S
Sure can, and if your unfortunate enough to be close to it, chances are you are going to cop a crap-load of battery acid. That will make your day all sorts of fun.
EDIT: Have a read,
A battery explosion is caused by the misuse or malfunction of a battery, such as attempting to recharge a primary (non-rechargeable) battery,[69] or short circuiting a battery.[70] With car batteries, explosions are most likely to occur when a short circuit generates very large currents. In addition, car batteries liberate hydrogen when they are overcharged (because of electrolysis of the water in the electrolyte). Normally the amount of overcharging is very small, as is the amount of explosive gas developed, and the gas dissipates quickly. However, when "jumping" a car battery, the high current can cause the rapid release of large volumes of hydrogen, which can be ignited by a nearby spark (for example, when removing the jumper cables).
When a battery is recharged at an excessive rate, an explosive gas mixture of hydrogen and oxygen may be produced faster than it can escape from within the walls of the battery, leading to pressure build-up and the possibility of the battery case bursting. In extreme cases, the battery acid may spray violently from the casing of the battery and cause injury. Overcharging—that is, attempting to charge a battery beyond its electrical capacity—can also lead to a battery explosion, leakage, or irreversible damage to the battery. It may also cause damage to the charger or device in which the overcharged battery is later used. Additionally, disposing of a battery in fire may cause an explosion as steam builds up within the sealed case of the battery

Yep have seen it well heard it an saw the aftermath was at my uncles garage 1 day and an apprentice had put a batt on charge the day before had forgot about it an not taken out the plugs(if thats what there called) we were standing on the otherside of the shed, BIG BANG there was bits of plastic an acid all over the place. So lucky no 1 was standing near it.
Take it easy...But do take it...

Cheers Guys. That was mostly it. After checking the fuses, I figured it had to be the battery so got him to connect again. This time we connected for a while before trying the car. Alternator looks to be stuffed, and its killed my battery... not happy about spending $140 on the battery when gonna get rin in a couple days time..
Than ask the wreckers for a second-hand battery.

wow thats good to know
cheers acarmody
keep your old battery and put in and put on battery charger just for trip to wreckers
If the battery has less than say 10 volts its likely FUBAR anyway.
