hey I'm just wondering if anyone could tell me why most exhaust systems are center mufflers and a strait pipe does it make any difference if it is a strait pipe from the cat to a rear muffler
It makes more noise.

is it just louder or does it have more of a rumble to it
I was almost going to rage...
But what do you mean exactly?
What do you mean by straight pipe?
Do you litterally mean no bends or, nothing in between the muffler and the cat?
a pipe flowing from the cat to the muffler
what about the pipe?
Its bent so that it fits under the car, if thats what you mean?
Only way to change the sound of the engine and not just the volume is to change the came and/or the exhaust manifolds.
ive been looking around and most of the exhaust systems are a center muffler and a 2 and half inch pip through to the tip i was wondering if having a rear muffler instead of the center muffler would make any difference because you do see many systems around with that setup
Ahhhh now you make a little more sense.
IMO, it may be a little louder. Slightly. But it really depends on the muffler you use.
Are you looking to change an exhaust system or just curious?
well i bought my car and it doesn't have any mufflers on it and it crackles like crazy so ii was curious on which would be better for a street car
Is it a V6?
yes its a VX s2 v6
Okay, are you just looking for a bit of sound or a little more performance as well?
Lots of options open, depending on which was you want to go, and what your budget is.
looking at good sound but a performance increase as well and budget is around 400-500 for exhaust
For the BEST sound and performance, I would recomend a set of extractors and a twin 2.25" exhaust system.
But for your budget, a single 2.5" system with a good muffler is the go.
On ebay you can get edelbrock and magnaflow mufflers for around $250. They are AWEOSME mufflers. No drone and nice sound.
I would recomend using one of those mufflers and having an exhaust shop fabricate some pipe work to suit. This should cost no more then $250. So it will fit your budget.
I would also recomend you stay AWAY from the cheap systems you see on ebay, they're cheap for a reason. Now there will be allot of people get on here and spruke about their $200 exhaust system, but ask yourself, How can a company make a WHOLE exhaust system for less then what some charge for a single muffler?
I'll tell you why, its cheap nasty crap. It sounds it too!
cheers soop ill let you know how it goes
Cool, good luck.
