or is my barrel broken?
No!!
spray a little WD40 in the keyhole and turn your key back and forwards untill it starts working right
No. You could fix it if you want personally i wouldn't worry about it
used to have an old vb commodore did that, thought it was normal , quite useful for unlocking the glovebox while you driving along lol
i do dodgy stuff like leave it running while i pop into the 7/11 to buy a paper or something...
lock the doors of course
I know a couple of people who have been knocked back on their rego inspection here in NSW for this. They had to get a new key cut so it didnt pull out of the ignition switch when the key is in the ON position.A worn key is usually the cause.
yes definitely something that will have it fail a rwc, if they notice it.
A small amont of graphite grease would be a better option than a liquid, but both should achieve the result you want.
Just a suggestion but neither graphite grease or WD40 is good for your ignition lock. Graphite powder is the go but will not fix the key coming out in the "on" position. new key or lock is the only fix for that
try INOX spray if youre worried about moisture
it works wonders
no amount of crap that you spray in there will fix it, you need a new key barrel.... if your car is stolen, crashed etc an the insurance company notices that its not working properly then expect to be knocked back on your claim,,,
