Just wondering if anyones put an Alloytec engine and transmission into a VT-X-Y? Cant find anyone who's done it. Saw a 400hp naturally aspirated, daily driven VZ on the weekend and it got me thinking.![]()
Why would you? It would be cheaper to buy a VZ.
400hp N/A Alloytec? I doubt it.....
I lol'd.
Was the owner 19?
what does it matter if he was 19?!?!
you can be sure the 19 y.o. p plater was spouting bullcrap...
a 400hp N/A Alloytec? yeh right...
yeah because only a 19yr old would talk shit like that..
Is it even possible to get 400hp (300kw) from an n/a alloytech. Aren't they 3.6 liter? Like not_an_abba_fan said, it would be cheaper to just buy a VZ
i do agree, just get a VZ, it could be possible to get 400hp out of one, you would need way more dollars than sense though!

NO WAY!! hahaha you'd need forced induction for sure!!
Take it easy...But do take it...
Do not argue with an IDIOT.
He will just drag you down to his level an beat you with experience.
Some people take me the wrong way, Like smacking up Marijunna.
well mate i have seen 30 yr olds say there car makes a certain amount of power when it only makes half of it lol... its not the age mate

yeah only 19 y.o would say that
once they turn 20 they get common sense
alloytecs are so fantastic they are one of the few motors that require a timing chain replace before 100,000km
and all the while you see Falcon taxis with a half a million km with the original chain
VZs have depreciated heavily like all older Commodores... you see Execs for well under $10k... go for it if thats what you want because i doubt putting an alloytec in an VT will cost under than if you do it properly and all the while you get a mad 190kW crank to play with... *yawn*
hahahha nah mate i wasnt getting upset just making a point :P
Just so you know,
You are all way off topic?
Can it be done or has anyone done it was the question!
Anyway, the bloke is probably under assumption that it is 400hp,
The bloke that owned it probably had a small pew pew and wanted to feel big.
LOL.
Why does it matter if he was 19?
It doesn't matter. But guaranteed said vehicle owner had massive chromies, chops in the back and a flappy brimed white cap.
400hp breww, n ma m8 hez a 600hp Lansa GS brew. Got Nawz n all brew itz heepz sik ey.
The then they put it in [1] and drive up and down the main drag letting it run down in gear so it sounds like a manual, occasionally giving it a little throttle to make it sound like a lumpy cam.
Is it possible to fit an Alloytec to a VT, sure.
Can the OP do it, no. He had to ask if its possible. He can't do it.
Under the assumption it was 400hp?
Made an assumption based on no evidence anywhere ever in the world full stop?
There's a diagnosis for that: Dumb.
the question was,has anyone done it! and no i'm not 19, i'm 42!. The VZ in question was a heavily modified SV6 ute, with an engine build costing over $30k. If someone had just told me I wouldn't have believed it. The workshop next to my place of employment( i would of called it my work-but i dont do any ) had it in their dyno shed and i heard the noise, so i wondered over for a look and saw it with my own eyes. 402hp @ 7950rpm & 581nm @6550rpm. have no idea of engine mods, the oxner was a bit cagey about them. so how about staying on topic.
To remember the exact figures you must have a readout somewhere? I wouldn't mind a look if you can post it up.....
if you dump $30k into any engine it can do 300kW
but would you want to?
there's a guy on another forum who dumped $130k on a VT wagon... sure it's a a 400kW turbo LS1
rajab engineering specialised in 32psi VL Turbos that do 400kW...
all three are examples of insanity
Nah, it'd either burn or bend a valve.

Still off topic. For those who seem to have trouble grasping the english language, the question was " has anyone done it ". As for the dyno sheets, I was just a spectator, not my workshop & not my car. I was simply relaying what i saw as an example of what the alloytec is capable of. As for it costing more than it's worth, that doesn't concern me, if it did I wouldn't have a 8/71 blown 578ci '34 ford tudor, that cost me 8years and over $150k to build. my current project is a VZ adventurer which is bagged & slammed on 22's and now in my shed recieving a whipple twin screw supercharged 7 litre! And soop, i wasn't asking if it's possible(anythings possible with an angle grinder, mig welder and the know how) , I was asking if anyones done it!
