my ute has this, and so does my mates vs ute and my other mates vt wagon.
i always say i am going to paint them, but i never get around to it.
    why does this happen?

well i actually got off my arse and painted them

    the arms are aluminium

i think they just sealed them with shitty paint

one brass nut holds them down

sand it with some paper, clean it

hit it with $2 supercheat export quality black

trust me ur better off spending the money on some decent paint.

mine looked the same so i gave them a hit with some of the cheap paint i had lying around, it fades to buggery after a few weeks.

should have done it right the first time but i was too tight and lazy to trek down to the hardware store

Lead base paints react with aluminium so the aluminium corrodes and makes the paint flake off.

If you're lazy and can't be stuffed painting them, just buy a brand new set they aren't all that expensive.

Here's some on eBay: VT,VX,VY,VZ,VU,WH,WK HSV Commodore WIPER BLADES ASSY (eBay item 120675091368 end time 02-Feb-11 10:54:15 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

I bought a set from Holden in October 2010 as mine had started to go too - i paid $46.20 for the pair.

    Part numbers and cost - passenger side 92049101 $20.35, driver's side 92050560 $25.85, total $46.20.

For anyone who needs them - the genuine wiper inserts are even cheaper: COMMODORE VT CALAIS HSV MONARO WIPER INSERTS, GENUINE (eBay item 180538097584 end time 21-Feb-11 13:34:39 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

Actually you're right TonyJZX, i just noticed that! My bad.

I did the blades and arms around the same time as they both were dodgy, but for reasons unknown i can only find the receipt for the blades.
