    Smile VX S-Pac Horn

Hey, we all know the VT-VX horn is too embarrassing to blow - well mine is anyway..

So I want to upgrade the horn to something novelty like a train/truck horn, I found this on eBay:

TRAIN BELLS & WHISTE HORN I2V FIT HOLDEN FORD NISSAN (eBay item 370474815673 end time 12-Feb-11 12:56:53 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

Would this just be a straight swap simple as that? Or is there more to it? Looking for any advice also.

    Cheers

Yeah this is exactly what I want.. wish you installed it and could give me some info haha.. I've got no clue how the horn works - I'm guessing you unplug the old horn, take it out, put the new one in and plug it in?

If this is the case, all I need is advice on which one to get :P

With mine i two horns. They come in a pack from all auto places like autobarn supercheap all those shops and ebay too. And most of them come with everything you need to hook them up. Luckily for me mine where already on the car. I don't think its quite as simple as hooking it up to the old horn you have to add a relay and wire it yourself from what i remember. But i'd just stick to the trumpet style. Hope this helps

That's pretty much all there is to it. You could also add a horn that is lower in pitch, you might find a plug for another horn on the passenger's side, on the opposite side to the horn on the driver's side (behind the bumper). This will give you a much better sounding horn, like a Calais or Statesman.

my car came with the twin tone horn, they sound really good, all you will have to do is buy the twin horn packs from repco or supercheap and find the second mount, they are on either side of the front bumper bar, it will just be a plug and play exercise, way easier that trying to and rewire in an air horn into the system.

when you do it VX Appeal, just chuck a how to up afterwards, i dont need it, but it cant hurt for when others need it...i can imagine all you will need is a soldering iron and basic soldering skills...then find a place to mount them if they dont fit where the originals go....

I done my one about 7 years ago So I'm a bit foggy on how I done it.

Unplug the original horn wiring and get two male wire joiners that will fit into the Original wiring plugs
and put them on the air horn compressor wires before connecting it up check what one is the + pos on the Original wiring so you put + pos to +pos (don't think there red & black)

I can't remember how I mounted the compressor.

I mounted both horns behind the grill (very good if someone is standing in from of your car )

    Note:
If you take the front bumper of it saves a lot of stuffing around

Anyone know what the go is to fix a horn that its intermitent ?
Ie. I press it a couple times and I get nothing, after a few more presses I get something.
Is this a button in the wheel issue, or the horn itself playing up ?

start with the horn and work your way back.
If you can get a lean of one to test it.

Some horns have an adjustment screw on them. If yours has one give it a turn and see what happens

as you can see the original wires plug straight in to the air horn compressor. too easy

I have got the compressor mounted on the original horn mount too just needs a little bit of a modding
