hey all,
need help drivers side door wont lock anymore, i have to use the key to turn and lock it now, any ideas cause all the others still lock and unlock fine
cheers
sounds like a faulty door lock actuator as the key will manually lock and unlock the drivers side door
fairly simple to replace.

how do i go about doing it and, how much does it cost?
Good question on how much it costs holden should be able to direct that enquiry.
a gregories or holden service manual comes in a little handy for this next part
removal i think is the following ....
power windows miss following step.
wind down window.
Manual windows from memory there's a clip you've gotta remove before taking the handle off the door. (carefully pry the handle towards drivers seat and then using a hook remove the retaining clip)
remove lock buttons by inserting a sharp pointy tool into the centre of the orange button insert and carefully prise the insert from the button. slide the button off the control rod (the gregories manual says you might want to get a new one incase that one is damaged upon removal) remove the outer guide for this button using a screw driver.
Remove the door handle as follows remove screw from centre of door handle partially remove door handle then remove retaining clip from control rod at the rear of the handle and then remove the control rod from the handle and then the handle from the door.
remove the trim cover next to the mirror remove the mirror retaining screws and withdraw the panel.
remove the door trim panel by removing the screws from the bottom and sides of the door card. gently remove the bottom of the door panel lifting while you remove it then disconnect the power mirrors switch and then carefully remove the trim from the door then remove the panel
remove the two phillips head screws holding it in place remove the wiring loom from the old one plug the new one in screw the actuator back onto the door then test.
reattach door panel and your done
** just a note i take no responsibility for damages or false procedure to remove door panels this is advisory only it is recomended that you seek a workshop manual or an auto electrician.**

if the lock does pop up but not all the way it may just need some wd 40 on the actuator and mechanism, Have heard it it quite common that they get dirt build up and become sticky, however if the lock doenst pop up at all than that sounds like the actuator itself.
thanks mate your a real help! ill get right on it!
Test for power first dont just go changing parts. Because if there is no power and you change the actuator it wont work.
If there is power then the unit is faulty.
It could be a open circuit in the wire i had one at work. The problem was were the wire runs into the door covered with rubber there was a tiny break in the wire. Because the door always opens and closes.
Thats a common prob mate i have done a few in my time on vt,,vx,vz,and vy's just get one from a wrecker about $100 i think for a new one from holden is a bit expensive
you could put the one from the other side to double check but i would say you will have to replace it
