    Default VX SS cats

    Hey Guys.

Just wondering i had my exhaust done afew months ago. Had pacemakers headers Tri-Y's
2.5 inch xforce exhaust with hurricane mufflers.

My question is are the cats hi flow cats?. Because i still have the standard cats on as my
exhaust fitter said they are hi flow. But ive been doing some research and apperntly they
hold up power up too 40rwkw.

ive had a howard cam installed and pushrods springs the normal stuff

I got 270rwkw but hear that some guys can run up too 290rwkw.

So just seeing if my cats are holding up my exhaust system?

And i might be superchargering it soon aswell

    Any help would be great

    Thanks Guys!

    Sounds about right.
I was quoted about $400 a cat for my VT, although not sure if that was installed or not.

I bought 2 from xplode (one of the forum sponsors here), high flow ones. Not yet installed, but they were very well priced.
Figured I'd try them to start with, if I have any issues I'll swap em out and chuck some other ones in later
Will write up what I think once I have the system on (should be within a week or so, just waiting for the exhaust shop to get my headers in).

Apparently they do flow well if you get the pressed section opened up but they are not hi flow cats hiflow are 300cpsi to 100cpsi. i paid about 300 each for bolt up pacemaker 100cpsi cats.

Ahhh ok. Well he pressed them out to fit the 2.5 inch exhaust so its 2.5 straight through. he just said thathi flow cats are a waist of time with the money to get like 5 kw if im lucky. So he modded the standard ones. Just tho id ask as im about to supercharge my car and want only the best flow .

    Thanks mate!

Get hi flow metal cats, 100 CPSI are the highest flowing, but are illegal on the street as they don't meet EPA regulations, but that doesn't stop most people from fitting them. A point to note though, 100 CPSI cats flow more than the engine can deliver so they are really just fitted for noise as they are louder than 200 CPSI cats. The 200 CPSI's are legal (some brands anyway) and flow plenty enough.

I do the 200 CPSI Magna Flow EPA approved cats for $195 each.

Thats a good deal right there, and if you`ve got a jack its just 4-6 14mm bolts per cat and 1 oxy sensor to unbolt and rebolt per cat, sum anti sieze, new gaskets and hi-temp goo (silicon or ceramic paste), and there your done and seeing how it prolly been taken off recently the bolts won`t be siezed either.

Yer i was thinking of ding that but a cant afford it. the exhaust system cost me nearly 3 grand plus the cam and tune intake all that cost me just under 8. So was just looking at 5 to 6 psi kit. Just to get over 300 rwkw.
