    Default VX Lowering Help

I'd like to lower our VX Acclaim but am concerned about the rear, when I release the hand brake it feels as if the rear end lowers itself, is this correct and if so how does this affect the lowering and when buying the springs and struts is the front struts just the standard height but its the spring that lowers the vehicle. I also want to be able to tow a box trailer and would like to use the air assisted rear shocks so do the rear shocks also need to be lowered or once agin is it just the spring thats lowered..

It really depends on a couple of variables. I have lowered my vx 50mm using king springs all round and whilst there were no alignment issues I definately needed the shorther stroke shocks. With shorter springs you get stiffer springs and the back doesnt drop anywhere near as much as it used too

Yes you should use Shocks to match your springs if your going to use Monore and KingSpring have a look at this PDF it matches shock to spring.

The lower you go on the back the worst the camber is, So you might want to look into a camber kit to save some money on tyres. If you don't it just wares the inside of your back tyres out.

I've used lows all round on mine and don't seem to be wearing my tyres too badly yet.(vx series I). Thinking of changing to lows in the rear though....

I can't remember what King Springs I have in my one (its pretty low), but with how the roads are around here I'd like to raise it 40mm.

there was an gumboot laying down on the road the other day and I drove over it and it hit all the way to the back.

Yeah it only wears the rear tryes out it you have lowered it, the lower the worse it gets (unless you have a camber kit in it, and get a wheel alignment)

I lowered the car myself (pain in the rectum) but saved a heap of cash and as soon as I had done it I took straight to the tyre joint to get a wheel alignment, wanted to drive it first but the missus was adamant (arent they all lol) and whilst the fronts were out (though not by much) the rear was spot on, no camber kit just shocks and springs king ssl all round and excel g short stroke shockers on series 1 vx. With a clubsport front bar the lowest point is 104mm off the ground fully ladened (ie 4 people and full tank of juice). I measured it myself just to make sure and can I say what an amazing difference. Next will be adjustable sway bars front and rear and then i plan to upgrade all the bushes (using a mix of rubber an urethane).

When replacing the front shocks make sure you get the shock tower bush and bearing replaced and can i recommend using oem (ie rubber) for ride quality.
