G'Day,
I have read another post which describes the removal of the heater fan because mine just stopped working a week ago. Stoppped the car in a car park, came back about an hour later and fan just wouldn't go. I have checked the fuses and relay, all good. There is voltage at the heater fan plug so I have to assume it is the fan that's stuffed as there is nothing on all fan speed sttings.
After unclipping the lower plastic cover I can see the fan cover but there is also a long black oblong box with a plastic tube that has thick wires attached (In order they are blue, white, green, pink, orange, and yellow with a black wire coming out the left end). I'm assuming this to be part of the air bag system but when I undo the screws of the fan cover, this box wants to come out with the cover. Now I don't want to monkey with the air bag system and accidentally activate it so I'm asking how do I remove the fan cover without removing this control box?
Can any one help here please?

Gee I was hoping to get a few clues here as some people have already done this job. Can anyone give an idea on this problem? I really want to get my air con working again in this heat
try seeing if its the fan's resistor thats blown 1st otherwise the fan is attached (inside) the HVAC unit so the whole lot needs 2 come out 2 replace.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's the resisitor as there is no fan on any speed at all. I got the idea from this forum that if the resistor was blown then only high speed works and not the others.
Sorry I don't understand what you mean by HVAC. Are you saying I need to disconnect the air bag wires in order to remove the fan cover? If that is the case can I just disconnect the battery and assume that no power is left for the air bag to operate?
Check the instructions below. Much simpler than replacing the blower motor in a VN/VS:
BLOWER MOTOR
REMOVE
1. Remove the footwell upper closing panel left side (unclip) 0.
2. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
3. Unscrew the blower motor access cover three self tapping screws.
4. Locate the three blower motor retaining screws and remove.
5. Gently remove the blower motor assembly
NOTE: Ensure the blower motor wheel balancing clips are not dislodged during removal.
REINSTALL
1. Install the blower motor using three self tapping screws.
NOTE: When installing the blower motor ensure that the balance clips have not been dislodged from the blower motor wheel.
1. Install the blower motor access cover using the three self tapping screws.
2. Connect the blower motor electrical plug to the blower motor.
3. Install the footwell cover upper closing panel left side.
Thanks for the step-by-step instructions, BlackVXGTS. Much appreciated. I still am not sure about these wires I originally mentioned. I have been told that if I have my radio code, disconnect the battery and wait a couple of minutes. There should not be any voltage at these wires after that time so it should be safe to disconnect any wires whilst trying to remove the blower motor. I'll give it a go on Saturday
Disconnect your battery and leave it for 5-10 minutes. This gives the capacitors time to discharge. If you dont allow time when you disconnect the battery there will still be power in capacitors and if you touch the wrong wire the airbag can discharge costing a lot to repair
