hi all
i have a vx ss s2 last week the engine light came on took it to ultra tune they looked up the code and its the knock sensor i don't have a ping in the motor and the light only comes on when costing does any one no if its cover under the car yards warranty and why the sensor keeps lodging a fault
ps i only use bp98 thanks
Have you had any work done in the engine bay recently?
Engine mounts replaced?
Extractors put on?
If you have warranty take it back and get them to fix it.
^^^^ as stated above if under warranty then deff get them to fix the problem..i replaced my knock sensors in my VT not long ago which would here and there come up in fault..tell ya one thing without the right tool its a pain!!
Also check my ride, sitting on HSV R8 19's

These are one of those pain in the ass sensors that you don't get symptoms from.
Normally, the ECU expects to hear slight knocking (you won't hear it), which it uses to adjust the timing - ie. it advances until it knocks, then retards one step at a time until it no longer hears it, then repeats again.
When the ECU is no longer fed a knock signal under any conditions, it assumes there's a fault and retards the timing to a setting that isn't optimal, but it knows that it won't knock, and illuminates the MIL on the dash.
Check the wiring connectors and that wiring isn't shorted to earth. Without an oscilloscope you won't be able to test the signal - have your electrician do this. Of all the engine sensors, this is probably the most reliable.
hi thanks all its at the car yard now getting fixed the car yard was not happy about fixing it thanks again
hi got the car back today heaps more power both knock sensors had rust on them
had rust on them.... what does that say about the rest of the car you baught? :-/
their under the manifold Holden never sealed the caps down
They should have a Factory Heat shield bolted around them protecting them from the Manifold
the knock sensor is under the manifold in a ls1
