Okay guys got a few issues with my commodore at the moment, just wondering if they were linked or separate and the best way to go about trying to diagnose and repair. Hope some of you can help
1st - I had my air con regased the other week, and they replaced the O rings too, did a pressure test and apparently no leaks. Was awesome for about 1-2 weeks. Now, when I turn the A/C on, it doesn't even kick in - Just blows hot air. (Fan works fine)
2nd - Out of my 4 power window switches in the front, the rear left switch, the light inside it was off for a few weeks. Then randomly after using the switch, the light came back on. BUT when i use another power window switch out of those 4, the rear left light goes dim or off completely, then when I let the switch go, it comes back on.. ?
3rd - The rear left window itself winds up, and sometimes down, very slowly.. Sounds like it struggles greatly.
4th - The lock in my drivers door sometimes won't pop up when I unlock my car with the key, then when I lock it again right then and there, and unlock again, it'll most likely pop up.. (I'm yet to have a look at this, going to pull the door apart this weekend and check everything in the door)
5th - This is not so important, because it hasn't been doing it lately, but my car used to struggle to start randomly, sometimes won't kick over, then i just turn the car off, and turn the key back on and it'll start first shot perfectly.
Hope someone can help me out with a few, if not all these issues.
NOTE: Have had my lighting changed by Phreddy from ASR, but I highly doubt this would be causing any of the issues as he's done plenty of cars and I haven't heard of any of these issues occurring due to his work.
Also changed battery within the last month and replaced spark plugs last week.

About the A/C problem, Id say the gas has leaked out again, theres probably a leak in the system which is why the compressor wont come on.Theres a safety pressure switch that stops the compressor from turning on if the system pressure is too low or too high.Theres a special dye available that the A/C techs can put into the A/C system along with the gas, this will show where any leaks start.
Yeah they put that in the other week, I can't find any dye. Taking it back to my mate tomorrow hopefully, hopefully he finds something.
I'm guessing this is the central locking mechanism in the door. The actuator i think it is called, going it give a few of the connecting rods a spray with rp7 and hope for the best. If not, going to replace the actuator in the coming weeks. And if that still doesn't fix it, i'll try replacing the lock with the little red thing on the inside of the door (may not be gripping properly)
Actually, probably replace the lock first as that would be the cheaper option and may fix it.![]()
Drivers lock problem seems fixed for now (the red button wasn't gripping the rod properly it seems)
As for the air con - Took it to my mate, my compressor is screwed
Gonna get that replaced soon when I get some spare cash (or I might just wait til next summer...)
Now my only real problem remaining is the LED in my power window switch... It went out again the other day, and hasn't come back. But it was on and all 4 were lit up for the past 2-3 weeks. >_<
Grrr
I've got a similar issue with the power window dude. Ant took a look at it for me briefly whilst reinstalling the switch etc. Seemed to be a power issue to the door itself.
Sometimes the light will be on, sometimes it doesn't show up for weeks. Ant told me I should get an auto sparky to check that the wires leading to the door are okay as down where the grommet is where the wires go through looked pretty flogged out, so could be an issue there for me.
My left rear power window doesn't work, at all... ever.
When I use my power windows (any of the other 3 that work), or even attempt to use the one that doesnt. You can see the glow of the LED's in the switches all dim considerably sometimes.
Not sure what causes this. So will be following your thread to find this out myself![]()
That's the EXACT problem I have. When I use one or a few switches at the same time, they dim and then eventually go out (if i hold them down without releasing)
Let me know if you get any further with the issue, coz my next move was going to take it to an autoelec, but that won't be for a while coz I gotta replace my compressor first
Hopefully we can work this out and solve it, I know it's not a huge issue purely visual but it's just annoying haha.![]()
