    Default VT/VX with quad exhaust

    Hey guys,

Bored and was curious what peoples opinions were on putting quad pipes on a VT/VX s-pack. Below is my car with a cheap photoshop of what it would look like.

I was thinking i might have to change the tips to the ones that curve with the body or maybe something else that suits it a bit more so they don't stick out so much.

If anyone has done this before or someone else has pics of this i would like to see it.

Open for thoughts/ideas/criticism on the quads and the picture

tips that i am thinking of - 3.5inch pontiac tips

Thats a photoshop? Damn, nice job.

I reckon it looks sweet. I want to do this myself. Reckon you could do a chop for me?
Its not particularly hard to do, you just run one pipe behind the tank and then out the other side. Its not practical how ever, purely aesthetic.

yeah i can chop one for you not too sure if it will look as nice on a VY/VZ though due to the edge shape compared to smooth but i can do it.

As for my pic, I like it, but as a mate of mine said 'maybe it's look better if you had an 8 and not a 6?'

Still looks same but i think i get his point.

yeah but these days even four cylinder shitboxes have quad pipes

now surely a V8 should have quad???

so i reckon that if you can find someone who can do this at a fair price you get a lot of people

especially if it made the sound better

    Very true! haha

As for sounding better it is extractors with 2.5inch cat with a long centre hotdog and early dump pipe at the wheel at the moment. Id have the same thing but on the other side too. I guess i'd split the exhaust after the centre hotdog? then run around the tank, dump at whee, then continue the fake piping to the tip. Don't believe sound would change. at low rev sounds 'v8ish'
    anyway.

Found the sort of tips that i want -

It will sound identicle. All you're doing is chaning where the tip is.
If you want it to sound better, run a twin system. you'll have to to get the quad tip setup anyway. Unless one is fake.

i just want it so when you stand on one side you can hear it and the other side you can hear it. Don't care about sound etc, sounds great to me already, I just want it to sound even on each side. Any idea what the cost will be? going to phone round tomorrow anyway

Might cost close to $1000 by the time you modify the exhaust and rear bar.

Tip for the VT, find a CV8Z rear bar. Or any monaro that had the twin outlets.

Hey, sorry to steal your topic a little JSTCOZ, I've currently just messaged my local carline store to get a quote on extractors and a single 2 and a half inch system, And I clicked sent and saw this topic....

I was just wondering, Would it be quite a lot more for him to put a twin system on my car compared to a single ? I'd love to do this as well, Also how would you cut the bodykit out on the other side so it looks the same ? Surely that'd cost quite a bit and would need touch up paint for the left over bits?

Edit: Just saw the post above mine.. haha! What would it look like if you didn't modify the other side ? You'd have too wouldn't you ? :S... Hmm!

pretty sure u wont have any room if u go quad piping as u have 2 run the pipes inbetween the fuel tank and the rear bar but mayb wrong? I have seen old pics/threads of this being done all they did is tapped into the standard piping at the back and ran the single pipe in the spot i said b4 and used twin tips.

The only thing i think u would need 2 do is make up some heat shelds on the piping that goes near the fuel tank.

I quite like the look of symmetry!

I have this on my VS. Bit of stuffing around to get the perfect fit but its worth it and it does change the sound. I did the pipe work myself so only cost for the materials

If its setup with an equal splitter (i.e. even flow to each tip) the sound is somewhat more 'rounded' and amplified... i suppose???

Oh, and for yours JSTCOZ.... the staggered tips would suit the curves of the bumper well. do it

Fake exhaust pipe (i.e. not an equal splitter) is as useless as the 4th funnel on the titanic.

Only if it's an 8. Quad pipes would look pretty toy on a 6.
