    Angry new starter motor issue

    hey i just put in a new / remanufactured starter motor from sprint auto when i turned the car on it sounds like the gear on the starter motor gets cought on the fly wheel on the way out!! do i take it back or is there something i didnt do right any help would be great thanks

    When you took out the old one did you notice if there was any shims between the starter motor and the engine ? If there was you need to use them when fitting the new one to retain the correct clearance

    I didnt notice anything, i rang sprint back up and they said something about my flexplate/ flywheel could be worn?

    is it a squelling noise? but only when you start your car when its cold?!?!? thats your flywheel

    nope does it every time i start the car, it sounds like when your cars on and you go to turn the key again thats what it sounds like!!

    Perhaps the pinion sprag clutch is faulty? ..Could have been not detected when starter was recond, and put back in service. Bloody hard to detect out of vehicle.

    loosen the bolts and then do them both up by until they are hand tight as best you can, make sure it seats flush

    then tighten them up

    i think it may be faulty too but if i take it back they need to send it away to get it tested :@.

    i will give it ago tomorrow oska!
