    Post Clicking under dash!

    Hey Guys!

Seems a new day a new problem!!

Today, while driving to work, i noticed a clicking noise, that similar to your indicators comign from under the dash...sounds exactly the same as if i had my blinkers on but it wasnt in any form of pattern just randomly going fast and slow and stopping then starting again. When this happens my blinkers are not flashing so im stumped to what it could be?

    Any suggestions!

    Cheers

    Hey Gimpy

Mine does the same, drives me nuts. From all reports, it probably means the indicator stalk has had it. About $60 from Holden. But check your indicator relays under the dash too, make sure they aren't stuffed.

I had same problem it actually came from indicator stalk, when it makes noise try wiggle to stalk. Don't let it happen too long coz someone on here had it start a fire in the car. Mine started smelling like burnt plastic from makin noise for ages, same thing, indicators don't come on but makes noise. I took out the blinker box so that it didn't start a fire till I got a new stalk off eBay for like $50

Common fault! The grease in the indicater switch goes a 'bit cheesy' and a trace of copper worn from the contacts gives an electrical path for a small current to activate the indicater solenoid (clicking sound)
Replace the indicater stalk, it's very easy, step by step instructions are here (somewhere) on this forum. Others more cluey will be able to find it and do the post?

In your case, I doubt it, as you said that "wiggling the stalk" stopped it. Thats the classic sign of a knackered stalk!
    Lets know the outcome.
    cheers
