hey guys any help on this issue would be good.... now the car is a VT2 V6 2000 model. now some of u guys have probably read the other thread of mine about the idle....anyway for some reason it is running lean as, exhaust is hot like really hot, but is still using the same amount of fuel if not more than it used to??? i do not get it, i did a relearn today and cleared the codes, to see what would come back up and i got code 44 for lean exhaust, i dont get it... i shall list everything new (brand new) on this car:
Coils, injectors, oil air and fuel filters, o2 sensors, CAS, plugs and leads.....
wtf any ideas would be great, i am heading towards the fuel pump and/or CPS at the moment but anyone with similar issues in the past or anything that may help...Please....
Have you got an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor giving you a false lean reading?
muttley383
negatory mate nothing it is sealed up tighter than a ticks arse....
i will double check but u can always smell and/or hear a leak, but i shall see....
Is the engine running a little hotter then normal???
My guess would be the IAT or MAF sending the wrong signals to the BCM and is leaning it down... but that's just a guess.
Sounds like a vaccum leak to me.
well, no vac leak, used a whole tank of 95 octane to do 200 ks... wtf is what im thinking... no one has or can pinch the fuel, nor have i got a leak, its beyond me it runs lean and even smells lean, but uses lots of fuel..... someone please shed some light or ideas on the situation please... anything at the moment is worth a go....
Using heaps of fuel and running lean doesnt make sense.
Are you sure your fuel guage is reading correctly? How much fuel does it take to fill when its reading empty on the guage?
Silver Certified.
left and right O2 sensors mixed up, computer is trying to lean one bank but is actually making other side worse
ok i can close it now.... yes fuel gauge is spot on.... not sure how the lean running comes into the findings while using so much fuel, but anyway, i come home today and i thought that well i should just check everything... so i stated at the bottom, checked left bank o2 sensor, all ok, checked right hand bank o2 sensor.... what was left, it had broken completey, i could hear ceramic cracking and crunching while undoing it and it got stuck, having finally removed it the ceramic in side was shattered the whole thing rattled, so after running around to try and find one.... mind u they all want 170 bucks plus here for one and 20 bucks freight cos no one has one, so i resorted to desperate measures, i cut the lead off the rh one and ran the wire over and spliced into the lh bank o2 sensor and presto!!! fuel economy is great, back to even better than normal, however the moral of the story is never underestimate anything that u have fitted regardless of how new it is, the two bosch o2 sensors that cost 120 bucks each not even 2000 ks ago were the culprit... so until i can get a new one, haha kind of spewin cos i threw the two old ones out, but anyway still a litlle rough on idle with no load, but the idle has improved slightly, still could be related to when the pcv valve went and filled the engine with oil and f*cked the 120 dollar platnium plugs, and it probably could have been related to the high fuel consumption for a couple of weeks until i managed to burn the oil out anyway thanks guys for your input much appreiciated
