How important is it to replace the rocker bolts???? the manual states to change them every time there removed, if there not replaced could it affect the performance????
they should be replaced as they are torque to yield bolts. basically they are stretched when installed and won't torque up correctly if re-used (and possibly come loose). having said that, people have re used them and not had problems. i would recommend replacing them though, however i don't recommend using new TTY bolts from Holden. your much better off getting some cap screws from your local engineering shop to suit. these are much better and will be re-usable (and work out much cheaper).
if you are changing to cap screws, torque them up to 23ft/lbs

They are torque to yield, so when they are tightened they stretch and are not supposed to be reused, if you reuse them it just increases the chance of one snapping when you tighten them. Or with the engine running. But many people have reused them without a worry, when you tighten them you be able to feel if one is going to break.
