    Default LPG problem

hey guys, not sure if this has been posted already but i recently bought a vt berlina. it had the gas tank already installed and was working perfectly.
i did not use the gas for a while, since i was running on petrol..
to cut straight to the point, every time i try to change the car from petrol to gas the car stalls. it does when the car is cold, warm or hot. there is a full tank of gas..

before i take it to a gas joint, can anyone give me a heads-up of what may be wrong?

quick question is it when you flick the switch over or is it when your running on gas? if its when you flick the switch, from what i can work out on mine is that engine has no fuel going into it and stalls. I pull over switch the car off flick the switch then start the car up again

yeah when i flick it over.. i thought it was that no fuel was getting in, but i left the car in neutral and tried to get gas into but after i revved the car it just stalled.. not i know you shouldnt start the car on gas.. could something be blocking it or wrong with the converter?

have you checked whether your convertor is freezing up ,it would have an icy coating on it if it is, maybe there may be a blockage in the coolant lines to the convertor.

your ok to start your car on gas, im pretty sure it is just the engine being starved of fuel, when it stalls does it make a high pitched pop?

When changing over to LPG, whilst running, most vapor type LPG systems will need the engine rev'ing at or above 2000 RPM as it needs the suction to pull the vapor through the hose. On an engine like the Ecotec the hose is usually quite long and then the rest of the induction plumbing has to fill up with vapor too, about 3-5 liters ish... so the LPG has a long way to go before it hits the cylinders... without the higher revs the engine will stall before the gas gets to burn.

I had the same problem the longer I ran on petrol the harder it was to start on gas, I have been running the car on petrol for about a tank full and then refill the gas and tryed to start it but it wasn't going to start,
I had to put it into get fixed, they said there was a wring fault seamed funny that it was only when I ran on petrol for a time, any other time it ran perfect. anyway I did notice they ran a new earth wire from the battery to the converter.

end of the story it cost me 118bucks and its running again, finger crossed thats the end of the problem
