I have the problem in my vt... but havent bothered getting it reset as yet.

    Ive heard a possible causes..

    1) Wiring for the pretensioner under the seat can be disconnected when bumped by vacuum cleaner or when the seats have been removed for a clean without first disconnecting the battery.

    2) I heard a story somewhere about a larger lady that had the same problem.... turned out her weight had caused the padding in the seat to collapse over time, crimping the wire that controls the pretensioner causing the connection to be faulty.

Ive got the same problem on my VT. It is still under warranty and I will be trying to get the dealer to reset it at the next service which is soon. The problem does seem to be the connector block which couples to the seat belt pre tensioner which is down between the seat and the centre console; this is a fairly bulky connector block (green in colour) which rigidly plugs into the seat belt pre tensioner assembly and is supposed to be held firmly in place by a small steel spring clip which is clamped over this connector block. The problem seems to be that as the seat ages it sags and becomes more squashed, allowing it to billow out at the sides and push against this connector dislodging it; also when the car is valeted it can also get knocked by the vacuum head etc. This connector needs to be secured firmly and ideally the contacts cleaned from any corrosion before resetting the warning light - otherwise it will just come on again!

it all depends on what is causing the light to come on, it could be one of many things , all of which will cost differing amounts to fix.
find out the DTC causing the light then it will all become clearer
