Question VT Knock sensor + VT slight over heating issue

    Hey peeps,

    2 things...

Do VT's have a 'Knock Sensor' (could be very stupid question i no...)

Secondly, most of the time when i drive my car hard eg. going on hills runs or even sometimes on warmer days etc. and turn my car off for maybe 2-5mins when i turn her back on the temp gauge goes pretty much to High, then both fans kick in and take bout 20 secs to drop to normal temp is there something wrong? thermo going? or do all Ecotec's do this??

    Any help would be great

When i first got the car over 2 years ago she never did this, only been happening for 6 or so months....

    Cheers!

2, one knock sensor on each side of the block under the engine mounts with a small steel shield over each. A bit difficult to get out because of their position. Remove the shields first! When you re-instal the sensors you have to use thread sealer. By the way, when removing the plugs, you will notice they are oval. Just squeeze the long side of the oval with your fingers. Easy to break the wires so take care and the plug pulls off.Check your thermo for correct operation by immersing in boiling water. It should open fully. If not, get a new one, 82c opening. I am fairly sure the knock sensors require 22mm socket to remove. And no, all ecotecs do not do this, at least mine doesn't.

damn dude u must have the smallest fingers going if ya managed to get em of with ya fingers lol...best thing to do is leave the shield on just grab some really long pliers with a 45 degree 0r 90 end on them,i replaced both mine not long ago as i had pre-det probs and knock sensor error coming up.check ur error codes first then replace ONLY if ya have to..also wouldnt worry bout any sealar not required just waste of cash that can be spent towards beer for the process haha
As far as the overheating get pressure test done on radiator and check your thermostat as could be sticking..also maybe give it a good flush out then bleed the system of air bubbles!!
