Have noticed a high Pitched whining noise, when Idleing....Put the auto in Nuetral and the whine gets bad, put the vehicle back in gear and it goes back to a light high pitched hum/whine.. When accelrating Whine disapears, when decelerating or breaking hard with load on drive line, noise disapears,,, when coasting or rolling to a stop with no load on driveline the noise comes back as a light high pitched hum....
Auto Pump screwed?? Not sure where to start with this one...Now I am not even sure it is the gearbox.
Any ideas.???......Car is a SS 5.7ltr Auto
Vehicle is quite from Cold Start, No Noises.......After 5minutes of driving, whine starts..
No one has any ideas?? I amstill struggling with this one....
What color is the trans fluid ?
yeah colour of the trans fluid? should be a reddish pinkish colour from memory. maybe start with giving the auto box a service if it hasnt been done in a while, fluid flush, filter etc.
Take it to a specialist auto repair mob. They surely will give a free opinion!
Transmission Fluid is clean, seems to change properly. Anyway reconditioned auto now so its not auto, I have fully reconditioned auto, $800 in parts and 16 hrs labour, and still have the noise, Not auto........perhaps powersteering pump, rack..........No major noises coming from rack but I think pump is on way out...still cant find the noise,,,whine is rpm dependent so got to be something simple, about to snatch it....accessorie failure somewhere.....
For the tranny: When was the fluid and filter last changed? Whining is often a blocked filter
Do you have amped speakers? If so turn off the amp and try. Could be poor grounding?
Honestly get it serviced I had mine done last week and it used to whine from 1st to second and quite jerky but since it was done amazing difference smooth as and gear changes quick and no noise!![]()
