Is it worth selling my aftermarket LPG System in my VX commodore? I do not use it on Gas at all because of the poor performance. If I were to sell it to a mechanic they would give me $100-$150 including uninstallation. Do you get much back on resale with duel fuel? Although petrol is around $1.35 and Gas is around 60 cents but I would rather pay the extra and have my car running as well as possible. Any opinions would be appreciated. Cheers
mybe your Lpg needs a service..? My one run pretty good on Gas.
I don't know what they will give you or if they will even want it,
ive had mine tuned by 3 different gas specialists and i think its still crap, i havnt used my gas now for about 4months
I got gas injection installed on my car last week and so far on it's first tank full it's done 340km from 46L of gas! It's so smooth and to be honest I think it runs smoother then petrol... Early days for me but yea I'd suggest getting someone to have a look at it, I'd recommend gas to anyone and everyone now without a doubt... Should have got it done ages ago!
Cost me $3200 :S... I was going for the standard mixer system but the bloke who I got it done by offered me gas injection for $200 more so naturally I said "Heck yessssss!"... About 6 months ago he quoted me $4500 for a gas injection system!
sounds like he did a good sales pitch by saying only 200more considering a mixer set up now days only costs 2grand, however i do agree $3200 is good for injection, its still alot more then $200 on top of a standard mixer setup now days
just wondering what the price difference would be if if i were to get mine switched over to injection considering i already have the tank and shit
Everywhere I got quoted for standard mixer systems were 2700+... I wanted a donut tank as well which apparently costs a couple hundred more.
Maybe LPG conversion are cheaper down your way?
mine runs great on gas with no real loss of power either, ive got gas research straight gas and i would never go back to petrol or dual fuel again.
jr689,
who did your install? is that $3,200 before the Julia cashback?
^^^yep would need a tow, but theres no reason to run out of gas i always know how much ive got and have never ran out.
thanks for feedback
Company called Newgas, the bloke who owns it is an absolute top bloke and great to deal with even teaches lpg installations at tafe apparently.
And yea that price is before the rebate, so basically it's only $1,700 out of my pocket...
I think he stuffed up with the kit he ordered cause a week before the install he told me that he ordered the kit and then a couple of days later I called to see if we were all still good to go ahead with the set date and that's when he offered me gas injection for a little bit more... Either way I'm more than happy and I recommend that company to anyone!
Ther are a lot of mechanics out there who know very little about gas. It is not what they say but how the car performs is what counts. I have had gas on cars for years and years and was paying 8cents per litre at the start and having backfires when you put your foot flat to the floor. Ignition leads/plugs at the right gap will more than likely solve this problem Have now got gas injection on ls1 and it flies. Daughter has venturi system on V6 and it goes well. You really do need to find a mechanic that knows his stuff. You have tried 3 but I'm sure there are many more. Google gas installers and then start trying. You will find someone who knows his stuff. Even ring the gas accreditation board for some mechanics. That doesn't mean they know how to tune it properly it just means they have passed an installers course. Above all don't give up. As for running costs I pay half of what my petrol bill was per year. So you work out how long it will take to actually save money. cheers Brian
